45 Pounds before 45th Birthday

Hi there. I'm from Florida and I'm a 44 year old single mom who will turn 45 in Feb. 2011. I need and want to lose 45 pounds before my 45th birthday!! I've done diets my whole life, but losing weight after 40 has been a struggle. Hopefully, being here will motivate me and then hopefully, I can motivate others.

My Goals:
I'd like to lose 45 lbs. before my 45th birthday in Feb. 2011. And then maybe ten more after that!

My Program:
I am so addicted to bad carbs I'm just trying to cut them in half until I totally eliminate them and replace them with good carbs. Trying to eat more fruits and veggies and drink eight glasses of water a day!

Perhaps you are feeling like it's Tuesday--and you might like to give up or slack off from your fitness program. Just remember even a ten percent loss in body weight can significantly reduce your risk of many diseases and improve your quality of life. Also, you should recognize that you can only look as good as you feel.

Maybe you've been busy at work/home or don't want to cook dinner. Even if you have not time to buy healthy food and cook at home, you can still make convenience and fast foods work for you. For instance, get menus in advance and decide what healthy offerings you might enjoy at your favorite restaurant. Or go to the supermarket and buy some tasty, low-calorie frozen dinners---some of them are delicious. You can also try batch cooking: Pick one day of the week to prepare an entire week's worth of healthy menus!

There are many ways that you can take small steps toward better health, and you can to it - today! Begin to take small steps to a healthier lifestyle for you and your family. Steps that are simple and in many cases--free! Choose from any one of these small steps, or create your own. Get your friends and family involved in coming up with fun ways to take small steps each and every day. Remember, for adults, getting physically active at least five times a week, for thirty minutes or more, will help lead you toward a happier and healthier lifestyle. For kids, being active an hour a day is a small step towards good health! Eat a healthy diet, avoid harmful substances, and integrate small steps into your life - and soon you will see the positive effects taking place - one day at a time.
