I've never lost weight before.

My life has been a series of rapid weight increases interspersed with long plateaus, but I have never had the luxury of actually losing weight. Being raised in a family of three brothers and a communistic approach to labor and food division, I never truly understood appropriate serving portions. Still, my natural affinity toward exercise kept me in a reasonable shape until depression wiggled its way into my life. It was during this time that only the pleasurable sensations gracing my tongue comforted me from strange feelings of emptiness inside. Depression eventually abated, but the habits I had formed remained. Discouraged by my physical state, I threw myself into my education to the exclusion of all other matters. I'd lost my refuge in exercise, so I clung to my refuge in food as I attempted to prove my worth through my studies. Yet I plummeted from this world when I transfered. In this unhappy school, I lost all ambition and have thus remained, existing submissively until my sentence has passed.

This is probably where you expect to see my "aha" moment. The exact time when I realized that my expansive girth had given me more problems than I'd realized and that controlling that would help alleviate my other issues. There was no such moment. I always knew that exercising more would make me happier and that carrots would better aid me than cookies in the long run. There was no click. There was only a growing, powerful desire inside me to change my ways. So I stand before you now with renewed vigor. I can never be beaten until I admit defeat.

Step 1: Eat less.
