I"m back, AGAIN....

I am 61 years old and have been overweight nearly my whole life. I was having a successful run with SP last year and had lost a fair amount of weight when several immediate family health issues threw a detour in my personal road. I don't offer this as an excuse, just the reality of where I've been and how I found myself back to square one, AGAIN. My Goals:
My goal for 2011 is to lose 50 lbs over the course of the year.



My Program:
This year I want to get back on track and was in need of a motivational support system.

My stepdaughter introduced me to SparkPeople and I have decided this website offers the motivation I've needed.

Carbs seem to be my biggest downfall and I need to learn and abide by better portion control.

Due to both physical and medical conditions, I am a low impact exerciser. Walking has served as my primary exercise plan, but I recognize the need to firm and tone as I lose weight.

I am committed to using the food and fitness journals and report pages and anticipate they will help me to identify my shortcomings and pitfalls.




Personal Information:
I am a 60 yr old wife, mother and grandmother who has struggled with weight issues my entire life.

My husband of 19 years and I have slowly but steadily packed on the pounds since first meeting . Outside of the weight issues, we are basically both in good health and recognize the need to make lifestyle changes in order to meet our goal of living a happy, long and healthy life for many more years to come. This is the second marriage for us both and we each are parents to one child from our previous marriages. We have a 30 yr old daughter an OSU college student pursuing an Entemology sciences degree and our 39 yr old son is a father of 4, employed by a U.S. owned and operated boat manufacturing firm.

Our four grandchildren include 2 granddaughters aged 20 and 18 by my son's first marrige and he and his current wife have 2 boys ages 6 and 4.

I am happiest when surrounded by family and friends, enjoying life.

Other Information:
Other interests include gardening, golfing and traveling.

I am also a part time Arbonne (natural skin care) consultant and since retiring in Nov 2007, I hope to build my clientel and share all Arbonne has to offer with others. If you are interested in learning more about their pure, safe and beneficial skin care products, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for the encouragement on my blog. Saw the last comment on your page about yogurt - here is how I make mine. Use 1/2 gal milk, bring to 170 degrees on stove (doesn't boil but becomes frothy looking - can leave it first 5 minutes but then stir once in a while. I always forget stirring, always burns on bottom, but is fine). Then let cool to 120.Using a whisk, mix in 2-3 heaping tablespoons of plain yougurt. Pour into containers (I have one big glass, 1 mason jar - mason jar works great). Preheat stove for 5 minutes at 170. Turn off and put jars inside oven. I do this at night and leave them overnight. I add truvia and cinnamon, or fruit, to my servings.

Here`s where I found the make your own yogurt instructions. It`s pretty tart, but if you add fruit to it, I don`t mind it.
