A lifetime journey for personal and physical health.

I am a mom of 3 (2 teens, one 24 yr old), wife of one (he really is my lifetime love), and I am thrilled to have a large extended family. In our house there are 4 dogs, 1 cat, and a bird - a menagerie of volume and fur. LOL I would not have it any other way.

I am a full-time professor of psychology, and I am a clinical therapist and I am full-time busy! I also have a chronic pain condition - but I refuse to allow it to define who I am. I write that definition...daily.

I always thought that there was not enough time to exercise in this crazy busy life. Somewhere along the way, with help from my Spark Friends, I fell in love with running. I have learned that there is not enough time NOT to exercise. I must make my personal and physical health a priority and you know what they say...ask a busy person. So my busy life will include me and now it does!

Thank you Cindy for the blog comments! You are so wise and I just hear....such calm in your words. I deleted that blog just coz...with my family's history it probably isn't wise to air everything on the Internet! :) However..I really needed feedback on my feelings. emoticon emoticon

9 miles in the rain! Wait a minute..I thought you were taking it easy there girlie! :) Kinda teasing :) Is this the week you are back to lifting? I love running in the rain..it is so refreshing! I agree with Michaele..you are SO pretty and beautiful and incredibly intellligent with your advice you give in Fab Fit! I really love your posts. I once gave credit in there to the other Cindy..I meant you. You know how FB pops up names...but I think she's cool too, yet you really hit home with trying to tackle our lives stress in a cognitive and healthy way instead of just throwing medication at it. I've been on a very long road fighting my anxiety and depression and have many hours in...years in fact in therapy to help cope with my life by just changing my mindset. Long story...it was somewhere in a spark blog of mine once, I'm not sure if it's still there but I was once highly addicted to a medication called Ativan that my doctor prescribed happily to me for 5 years. yes, 5 years. I got very sick...going off of it. It probably aged me about a 20 years just with the protracted withdrawel. That was....3 years ago. So..I just can't tell you enough how much I appreciate your words and knowledge. I also have the unfortunate experience of seeing my dear Dad deteriorate year after year after being addicted to pain medications for fibromyalgia. He was seeing a pain management doctor who enabled his addictions. He died last August due to these problems. It's unfortunate that so many people fall prey to medications that are supposed to work and then don't. I didnt' mean to write a book on your page...however - thank you Cindy so much for your strength and for being such a lovely friend! Have a great week! emoticon
