CPA Momma

I am a 40 something CPA mom from CT with two busy teenage girls and one husband. I am trying to lose 25 pounds that I have gained in the past 10 years. I have been trying for 5 years with no luck. I am a CPA who sits at a desk for 10 hours a day and exercise is always a challenge for me. So is calorie counting, I am good for one or two days and then give up. I am looking to sparkpeople for some guidance and motivation.

Wow. I guess you just don't see many people on the adult Sparkpeople with crazy goals. But teen girls. Ouch. They are so pressured by the media (and friends) and have not had enough years to get to know their bodies. Not to mention they are supposed to still be growing! I was always so ashamed in high school that I weighed 170 pounds and wore a size 10. Now I'm thrilled because I'm a hot curvaceous LADY. That's just how my body is built. But Amazonian Goddesses aren't featured on many Seventeen covers.

I hope your daughter understands how crazy those goals are and can focus on her first goal before considering continued weight loss. I have done this a few times and it has made me happy. Reaching a goal and getting used to that weight before continuing with more weight loss has helped my body adjust and my brain to set new "red alert" weights (a weight which is unacceptable to go over again). But all my goal weights were/are in the "overweight" category of BMI.
