I can really do this!

I'm a work in progress. I struggle with insomnia, anxiety, and stress. I'm working on the idea that food is much more useful as fuel (and offers much less in the way of emotional salve) than I've previously accepted. One goal of this journey is to be present and aware, as well as to be kind to myself. This is a daily struggle, but one that seems to get easier with practice.

I'm a graduate student, a teacher, and a lover of beaches, books and sunsets. Always busy, I have been finding that consistent exercise also functions as "me" time. I need to be better about not letting myself off the hook. While I may not want to go out for that run, I *never* come back regretting that I exercised.

-Get 7 hours of sleep per night on a consistent basis

-Learn to set and reach attainable, intermediate goals

My Program:
-Food and fitness tracking!
-Biking, running, other cardio, and starting some strength training
-Sticking to a reasonable bedtime
-Dealing with anxiety-causing issues in small, manageable chunks and making incremental progress

Personal Information:
I'm perpetually overbooked and need to learn to make time for myself.

I need to learn how to say No to some things so that I can say Yes to the things that I really want.

Thanks for understanding. I'm one of those "all or nothing" people. Sometimes I just need to cocoon or I get sucked into too many other people's madness at my own expense. I never can find the proper balance, which is obvious since I'm still here on SP. :)

Have a great weekend and keep on drinking that water [I find it gets a lot easier in the summer months)!!

You can eat "a lot of pie" on your birthday, and I'm glad to see that you gave yourself "permission" to do so without the guilt. That's key. Becoming a 5% - er and eating pie are not mutually exclusive.

I was just reading a blog of someone who came back after gaining back 80 pounds. I've realized that for myself, SP ain't no honeymoon, and to keep things in check I just may be here a very looooong time, even after achieving goal weight. We'll just have to wait and see.

Have a wonderful weekend!
