I can really do this!

I'm a graduate student (final stages of PhD), a teacher, and a lover of beaches, books and sunsets. Always busy, I have been finding that consistent exercise also functions as "me" time. I need to be better about not letting myself off the hook. While I may not want to go out for that run, I *never* come back regretting that I exercised.

I'm a work in progress. I struggle with insomnia, anxiety, and stress. I'm working on the idea that food is much more useful as fuel (and offers ...

I'm a work in progress. I struggle with insomnia, anxiety, and stress. I'm working on the idea that food is much more useful as fuel (and offers much less in the way of emotional salve) than I've previously accepted. One goal of this journey is to be present and aware, as well as to be kind to myself. This is a daily struggle, but one that seems to get easier with practice.

-Actively and carefully reach my goal weight to be firmly in the "normal" BMI range for my height; to be more fit, active, and healthier

-Get 7 hours of sleep per night on a consistent basis

-Learn to set and reach attainable, intermediate goals

-Tracking!

-Sticking to a reasonable bedtime
-Dealing with anxiety-causing issues in small, manageable chunks and making incremental progress

I need to learn how to say No to some things so that I can say Yes to the things that I really want.

Glad I didn't sit in front of the "idiot box" watching the Oscars for three hours. That would have been time I could not reclaim.

Waiting anxiously for the spring. Friday it was actually one degree here. And I woke up thinking it felt like 25. Boy was I off! But I do feel the miserable winter weather makes us appreciate the spring all the more.

Or mebbe that's just me.

Welllll, in the interest of full disclosure: I did get the oatmeal in. I had the ginormous salad, too. But "car lag" caught up to me and I have yet to get to the gym. Was still tremendously tired from the 14-hour trip to Maryland yesterday and back.

No matter what, one way or the other, I'll get there. I do believe that.

I actually woke up today thinking it must be in the 20's it felt so warm! But truth be told, it was 18 degrees, but MUCH, MUCH better than three degrees, which was hard without gloves, which I needed to do when I was packing up the car at 2:30 AM. For the love of a nephew.....
