This time I WILL lose the weight!

In September of 2009 my husband, who was then 31 years old, was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure due to Polycystic Kidney Diease.

In June of 2012 he started peritoneal dialysis because his kidney failure had reached stage 5 and he was really sick.

This past December, I decided that I was going to fight hard to lose the weight so I can be tested to give my husband a kidney. We aren't sure I will even be allowed to donate at all, but we will never know for sure ...

We aren't sure I will even be allowed to donate at all, but we will never know for sure until I can be properly tested. So now I'm fighting harder than I ever had before to lose the weight.

My first goal is to get down to 175. At that weight I will be able to start the testing process. My ultimate goal is 135.

If I'm able to donate and I'm not a match for my husband, I hope that we can arrange a swap, so he can still get a kidney.

I'm doing good today. I didn't sleep well and I was going to take a nap when I got home from church, but I just felt to good to do it. Maybe later. Thanks for asking! emoticon

Welcome to the emotional eaters team. You will get a lot of support, advice and encouragement here. Post us often. We will listen and help pick you up when you mess up and pat you on the back when you succeed. A valuable tool is the nutrition tracker. You will find it under the my tools tab. It will show your calories, fat, carbs and protein. Drink 8 glasses of water a day and get 30 grams of fiber with the water a day. Exercise 30 min. a day. Spark mail me if you need any help. Check out my spark page. Maybe it will inspire you.

I'm so very glad that you've joined the Emotional Eaters Team. The team is a place where you can vent. And where you will receive some awesome support. Of course, I am biased ... it's a great team! I hope you find exactly what you are looking for! Welcome to the team!

Be sure to ask questions if you have them ... someone will likely have the answer. Use the tools SparkPeople provides. They are invaluable. If you feel an emotional eating attack coming on, come to the boards first. Write about it instead of pushing the feelings away with food. We're here for you!

Eat well, journey well,
Cathy emoticon

Welcome to the EE team!!

Iíve belonged to a lot of teams here on spark-- i really do believe that the Emotional Eaters team is one of the very best, itís a great group of people- very supportive and encouraging-- and it is very refreshing to talk with people who "get" what you're going through!!

Check out the main page of the EE team- there are ďstickiedĒ topics you may be interested in to get involved- a buddy thread, a place to introduce yourself, weigh-in challenge, a birthday post.

Spark has a lot of great tools, and you will learn which ones work best for you. The best tools are the people tho, always willing to lend a hand, an ear, or a shoulder. Iíve been here for over a year now, and I still am overwhelmed, every day, by the kindness and goodness of others on this team!! That has made a world of difference for me. I hope you have the same success!

~~best of luck to you on all of your goals!!!
