HEALTH AND VITALITY AT AGE 60 AND BEYOND
I joined SparkPeople on May 25, 2009 to get motivated to eat healthier and get back into an exercise routine. To my surprise I began to lose weight. I did great and was down 29 lbs. until Labor Day 2009 when I decided to let loose and eat all the things I hadn't tasted for a few months. I was only going to do this for the weekend and then back to eating healthy and exercising again. BUT GETTING BACK TO MY HEALTHY LIFESTYLE DIDN'T QUITE HAPPEN. I gained back 19 of the 29 lbs. ...

I was only going to do this for the weekend and then back to eating healthy and exercising again. BUT GETTING BACK TO MY HEALTHY LIFESTYLE DIDN'T QUITE HAPPEN. I gained back 19 of the 29 lbs. I shed last spring/summer. I've been back to Spark People since early March, and I'm struggling, but I'm determined to successfully complete this voyage to a healthier lifestyle and a new me. This website is providing the tools and motivation I need to reach my goals. Thank you SPARKGUY for this free and wonderful forum.

My Goals:
My goals are to lose weight and be more active and healthy. 8/2/09 EEEEHAAA! I achieved my first (big) goal!!!!!!! I weighed in at 199 lbs. today.
My Program:
1. Use the nutrition tracker daily and stay within my goals. 2. Walk daily for 33 minutes and increase time a little each day. 3. Carry a step counter in my pocket all day. My goal is to walk 5000 steps each day and increase to 10,000 daily over time. 4. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. 5. Get 7 hours of sleep each night.
Other Information:
My name is Linda. I'm a wife/mother/grandmother/greatgrandmother and have lived in Pennsylvania all of my life. I have 2 sons, 6 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild. I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, cooking, listening to jazz music and eating good italian food. I retired from state employment after a 37 year career. My husband and I own and operate residential rental properties. We will be giving this up in a couple of years so that we can completely enjoy our freedom in retirement.
