EDIT 7-31-11: I just realized that I hadn't updated my introduction section since before I got married last October! My overall reasons for SparkPeople haven't changed - establishing healthy habits. But when I joined SP, I was a single woman rebuilding my life after divorce. Now, I'm married and expecting my first baby in 2 to 3 weeks. I'm realizing that I'll need support in different areas now than I did when I joined!

Really, I'm just trying to be more healthy. I've never been particularly coordinated, and I've been more focused on my brain than my body. A couple years ago, I realized that in order for my brain to be healthy, my body had to be healthy too. So, I'm taking a wholistic approach. Mind, body, spirit, if you will.

I want to be comfortable in my own skin, have energy, feel happy and balanced, and not regret my life.

I'd like to lose about 50 pounds and feel more comfortable in my skin.

1) 200: 5 pounds lost

4) 185: 20 pounds lost, 10% bodyweight
5) 180: 25 pounds lost, half-way there!

My Program:
Establish a walking schedule.

Re-do Couch to 5k program then begin training for a half-marathon.

Establish a strength training program.

Hobbies: Reading, writing, gaming, drawing, cooking/baking, running

Other Information:
I live with my husband, son, roommate, two cats, and an energetic lab mix puppy in a tiny suburban house right now. I'm an PhD student in English, with hopes of teaching college someday. My main exercise program is walking/running, although I'm trying to build a yoga practice. I falter desperately whenever I try to work in strength training.

Thanks for stopping by my page and for the compliment! Friday night we were taking turns making up stories before bed. She told me a story that Princess Persephone got kidnapped by a mean queen who put a booby trap on her legs and she was very scared. I asked her how did the princess get away and she said she didn't get away, she did a honey spell to make the queen not mean anymore and then she didn't mind staying with her.
