My Steps to Better Health

Hi!! I'm 54 years old and live in a rural community on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I have been a member on SparkPeople since 2009.
I have been obese my entire life but I'm stepping out of that lifestyle to a better one. At my highest weight I was 422 pounds. I am currently 317 pounds. I have 167 pounds to get to 150 pounds - my goal weight. However, my primary focus is to get under 300 pounds. When I make that transition...I will be the lowest weight I have been in over 30 years. ...
Hi!! I'm 54 years old and live in a rural community on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I have been a member on SparkPeople since 2009.
I have been obese my entire life but I'm stepping out of that lifestyle to a better one. At my highest weight I was 422 pounds. I am currently 317 pounds. I have 167 pounds to get to 150 pounds - my goal weight. However, my primary focus is to get under 300 pounds. When I make that transition...I will be the lowest weight I have been in over 30 years. I can't wait!!!
The most challenging aspect of my healthy lifestyle change is working nights 4 times a week. Eating and exercising those four days can be very stressful at best!!!
My favorite cardio exercise is Zumba which I do for about an hour three times a week. You can find me in the gym either at the stationary bike, treadmill, or on the arc trainer. I do strength training from 2 to 3 times a week.
If I'm not in the gym, I am active in my church. I enjoy reading mysteries, sci fi and historical fiction. I enjoy needlework especially crocheting and needlepoint.

My Goals:
My goals are to maintain the following objectives:
To love God and keep His commandments
To live a healthy lifestyle of eating and exercise.
To live a life where relationships matter not things.
To cherish each day like its my last.

My Program:
To meet my goals:
I read the Bible and pray daily
I try to eat as healthy as I can each day - mindfully choosing foods to eat
I try to exercise at least 5 to 6 times a week. Mostly cardio exercises 3 times a week and strength training at least twice a week.
I try to spend time with friends and family,
I take time to observe nature.

Just wanted to let you know that we are trying for a Spark Rally this coming Saturday on the Boardwalk at 11---and around 1 for lunch if you can't join us for the walk. Hope you can make it. And if you don't want to walk the whole boardwalk, you can turn at any point or sit along the boards.
