Fitness Minutes: 14,109

My Goals:
Last May (2008), I started this journey. My goal weight is 126. It has been 20 years since I have seen that on a scale. Yoga jumpstarted my conviction to *finally* lose the weight and be strong and fit, so my ultimate goal is to do yoga everyday. I have gotten close to this, but lately have been slipping. I want my current program to be lifelong, not ending when I have lost the weight.

UPDATE: April marks my three month mark of doing yoga 6 times a week! Having an unlimited membership to a fantastic power yoga studio has changed my life. I have seen more progress in the shape of my body (and mind) these past three months from yoga than all of this past year. Enjoy your breath.;)


My Program:
I am vegetarian and have been for a decade, and mostly veggie before that. I like vegetables, and have never cared much for either meat or dairy. I am therefore inspired by the Eat to Live philosophy, which is a low-fat vegetable based diet including seeds/nuts/beans and a dab of whole grains. My body does best eating this way.

Exercise includes cardio five times a week. I have an elliptical at home (this is so helpful) that presently I am working 30 minutes. I had been up to 50 minutes, but hit a fatigue wall this fall (turns out I have dangerously low vit d), so I have backed it down.

Strength training on the machines at the gym twice a week. This has been challenging due to childcare. I have a kettlebell, but have not had much luck working it correctly. I feel so so much stronger when I can fit this in, even only twice a week.

Yoga. LOVE me the yoga. It is my one thing. And it is difficult. And more rewarding than any other single thing.
