I was very unhealthy and overweight 2 years ago, then I changed my eating habits drastically, began working out and lost 30 poinds. I now have my hypertension and high cholesterol under control and feel and look much better.
To lose at least 20 more pounds and continue to learn to eat healthy.
I work out at the gyn 3 times a week and on the days I don't work out, I walk 1-3 miles with my husband, Cecil, and my dog, Teddy Bear.
I'm originally from Waco, TX (born and raised). Got married at 18 and began moving around with my husband's job--he worked retail for 35+ years. Now he's out of retail and I work for the Texas Prison System in Huntsville, TX. We've been here for 3 1/2 years. I have 15 years with the system and my husband has almost 6. I hope to retire in 2013 with 20 years service and he hopes to retire then with 10 years service. We live in a golf course resort community next to the second largest lake in Texas. We don't play golf but the view can't be beat!
We have two grown children. Merrik is 32, is multi-handicapped, and lives in a group home in Abilene, TX. Cara is 29 (be 30 October 9th), graduated from Texas A&M University in 2000, and lives in College Station, TX. We moved to Huntsville to be closer to her and to move our son closer so she could obtain guardianship of him when I can no longer serve in that capacity. However, we haven't been able to find the right group home for him in this area, so he will remain in Abilene until that time.

Thanks for the welcome to the acid reflux group! It sure makes a difference cutting out the sugars...all those other foods you mentioned are some of my favourites! I am hoping that losing the weight will also help.

thank you for your welcome! I try to watch the carbs too, I seem to do better if I avoid carbs, especially anything with white flour or white sugar. Fresh fruit and whole grains I can eat, but only in small amounts. thanks again and good luck on your journey!

Life is too short. Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can, apologize when you should and let go of what you can't change. Love deeply and forgive quickly. Take chances, give everything and have no regrets.
Life is too short to be unhappy--you have to take the good with the bad. Smile when you're sad. Love what you got and always remember what you had. Always forgive, but never forget. Learn from your mistakes, but never regret. People change and things go wrong, but always remember LIFE GOES ON!!!
Every day is a gift--that's why they call it the present.
"We have no more right to consume happiness without providing it than to consume wealth without producing it".-George Bernard Shaw
"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."-Mahatma Gandhi
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."-Dr. Seuss
