Karen's latest journey (WHAT? AGAIN?)

I'm a retiree living in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Originally from the Adirondack Mountains in Northern NY.
Struggling to lose those last few pounds and keeping them off. This sounds so familiar!

Ok, here I am again. This time I can honestly say that I've reached, and exceeded my goal. Long story but I'll try to keep it short(ish). Last January, 2012, I left for a 7 day cruise. I had tried to lose a few pounds beforehand, but was unsuccessful. Then I gained 5 lbs. ...

Ok, here I am again. This time I can honestly say that I've reached, and exceeded my goal. Long story but I'll try to keep it short(ish). Last January, 2012, I left for a 7 day cruise. I had tried to lose a few pounds beforehand, but was unsuccessful. Then I gained 5 lbs. on-board. Finally I got down to business when I got home, and lost 15 in 15 weeks, to 140. Great! I'm thrilled. Then, I had surgery on my throat and esophagus. After that I just kept losing weight, had little appetite, and got down to 120! WOW! I couldn't believe it. I have my appetite back now and am thrilled with the loss but really need to concentrate on keeping it off. I've become obsessed with the scale. I don't want to lose more and am making sure I'm not starving myself but I've dieted for so long, it's second nature to me.
I've given away all of my bigger clothes and have had fun shopping for new ones. I know it seems like I'm bragging, and truthfully, I am in a way. But I'm still obsessed with the scale as much as before. I really worry about it a lot. I'm 70 years old and want to stay at a healthy weight.
Oh, and by the way, in less than three weeks we leave for 12 days of cruising, and the food is sooooo good. This will be my true test.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for the comment on my Sparkpage. Something makes me think no one will share there lashes and brows with us. Good thing for eyebrow pencils and mascara.

I see you've been on a cruise this year. We just got back from a two-week Hawaiian cruise two weeks ago. Where did you go? I haven't been able to get a handle on eating healthy since being in the land (or shall I say sea) of food.

I love the picture of your little gray cat getting a bath. All your furbabies are so cute. It's hard to have just one. I tell everyone cats are like potato chips you can never have just one. If my two weren't so spoiled I would love to have another one. My little white cat (who could also use SparkPeople) is so demanding. He feels the need to wake me up in the middle of the night just to pet him.

I assume the children in your picture are the grands. They are all adorable.

I read the post you wrote about your home. I don't think it sounds boring at all. It sounds like a place I'd love to call home also.

Have a great day.

Wendy

Just had to stop by your page after reading your post in Grannies Unite "MY TOWN!!!" I am not a city person, either! You made me want to visit your town!

I'm from a town of less than 4,000 people, but we are 250 MILES away from any major shopping - WalMart, Lowes, Penney's, Sears . . . . . Sometimes it is nice to go to the city to shop, but we love living in a rural area where everyone knows you when you drive down the street!

Love, love, love your gourds! I think your Red Hat Ladies were copied from a couple of gals that belong to the same group I do! The "Eat Dessert First" group! I enjoyed the pictures of your cats! You never know how many cats will give you the joy of their company - no one owns a cat, the cat chooses the people not the other way around! My neighbor claims ownership of three cats, but I often get the benefit of their company!
