From Rearranging to Maintaining

I had to do some major rearranging in my life. At 5'3" tall, I was tipping the scales at 260 pounds. I needed to do something.

I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I can not remember a time when I wasn't on some type of fad diet trying to lose weight.

After many failed attempts, and the realization that years of abusing my body had taken a toll, I decided to look into Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)

I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I can not remember a time when I wasn't on some type of fad diet trying to lose weight.

After many failed attempts, and the realization that years of abusing my body had taken a toll, I decided to look into Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)

Like many people, I thought surgery was the "easy way out" and for years refused to even consider it. I found myself at wits end however, and it was starting to look like a possible option.

I did my research, attended a seminar given by the local hospitals Bariatric Team, and then, with all information in hand, I made an appointment with my family doctor. Together, her and I decided that WLS was a very viable option.

On April 10, 2012 I underwent Roux N Y Gastric Bypass Surgery. It was NOT easy. It was a struggle each and every day, but in the end was totally and completely worth it.

To date I have lost 137 pounds.
I went from a Size 22/24 to a 2/4

Best of all, I have discovered a part of me I never, ever, not even in a million years, knew existed... my inner athlete. Apparently, she was hiding deep inside somewhere I never knew existed.

I went from not even being able to walk up a flight of stairs to completing a 8 Mile Mud Run.

Now, that I have done all of the rearranging - it is working on maintaining all that I have accomplished.

It makes me feel so encouraged to hear you say it was a while before you liked exercise, too! Hopefully when I start swimming, the pieces will fall into place for me like they did with you and your bike.

Thank you for sharing your exercise story!

Man you are so right. Maybe we should call an anonymously report Starbucks for spiking their Frappuccinos with crack. Especially sneaky, since it would probably be cheaper to just buy crack.

Those little pretzel packs are awesome! I am a sucker for little things {little bags!} and Halloween things {bats & jack-o-lanterns!}, so the marketing was aimed right at me.

Hope you've had a great day!

The kitty is adorable, and the worst part is how sweet she is. I'm a sucker for an animal in need, and if the apartment complex didn't SUCK, she would have a forever home with us. Dh wouldn't admit it, but he wishes just as much as I do that we could keep her. He's such a softie, but he hates when I tell him that.

It's somehow comforting to me that you have lost so much weight and still check the scale frequently. Makes me feel better about my scale obsession. lol

Hope you're having a great Sunday!

That scale sounds great! :D I have a cheap 20 dollar one that only does weight and nothing else... I always want a better one but when I went to the doctor last year my scale showed within a pound of the doctors one. I go to the doctor on the 19th and still hoping it's up to par. If it isn't I will be in the market for a new one so thanks for letting me know. :D So glad you are enjoying the tea!

Hi Friend!
I am doing very well, except that I have two kiddies with farangitis, (how DO you spell that in English?) Sore throat and fever. Which means no gym AGAIN!!

My life just works when I do my routine. Pack all my food for the day, take the kiddies to school (08h00), go to gym, stay there until it is time to pick them up.
At the moment I like to run 1.5km then do weights for 15 mins, and repeat that four times. Then a spin class (45mins) or elliptical machine (20mins). Then a good stretch on the powerplate machine and then sauna and shower. Time to get kids, (12h00) We live on a farm, so it is a bit far to come back home after dropping them off.
After that my normal home/business routine.
Have realised that I can eat sugar without dumping at my moms (choc chip cookies, soda, tea with 2x sugar etc) Do I have a cast iron pouch too? (Me and my mom together means BINGE! Love her to bits, but it is the way we have always been.)
Am so happy to be back in my own space and routine again. Sugar is not good for me, a trigger food that makes my inflammatory (shin splints and plantar faciitis) and emotional food issues flare up.
The time at my moms was heaven, like a two week holiday. But I can't live like that anymore.
Anyway, off to make ginger beer for my DH's gang.
Have a great week!
