From Rearranging to Maintaining

I had to do some major rearranging in my life. At 5'3" tall, I was tipping the scales at 260 pounds. I needed to do something.

I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I can not remember a time when I wasn't on some type of fad diet trying to lose weight.

After many failed attempts, and the realization that years of abusing my body had taken a toll, I decided to look into Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)

After many failed attempts, and the realization that years of abusing my body had taken a toll, I decided to look into Weight Loss Surgery (WLS)

Like many people, I thought surgery was the "easy way out" and for years refused to even consider it. I found myself at wits end however, and it was starting to look like a possible option.

I did my research, attended a seminar given by the local hospitals Bariatric Team, and then, with all information in hand, I made an appointment with my family doctor. Together, her and I decided that WLS was a very viable option.

On April 10, 2012 I underwent Roux N Y Gastric Bypass Surgery. It was NOT easy. It was a struggle each and every day, but in the end was totally and completely worth it.

To date I have lost 137 pounds.
I went from a Size 22/24 to a 2/4

Best of all, I have discovered a part of me I never, ever, not even in a million years, knew existed... my inner athlete. Apparently, she was hiding deep inside somewhere I never knew existed.

I went from not even being able to walk up a flight of stairs to completing a 8 Mile Mud Run.

Now, that I have done all of the rearranging - it is working on maintaining all that I have accomplished.

Oh it makes me feel better that you were tested and it was negative! I was afraid it was one of those "If your doctor wants you to be tested for it, you probably have it." kind of things. I hope not!

For the most part I really like the fake meat products. The sausage wasn't too great, but I love the chicken patties and bean patties.

I'm really loving the Zombies, Run! app. It makes things way more interesting. In the first mission, you're hearing the back story mixed with your music playlist. The first training mission is walk/run mixed. I was only doing fast walks, but it gave me a crazy good workout! I highly recommend it!
