Losing it.. in a good way!

I'm a 5th grade teacher, singer/songwriter! I'm also finding out my body is completely different once I've made the 30 cross over. I have recently have a 20lb weight gain and I'm ready to whip it back into shape!

Hi! WELCOME to SparkPeople!

Thanks for commenting on my PCOS blog...

The PCOS diet suggests 'no grains' but I will 'limit' my grains. I choose my 'grain' for the day and try to keep it at that.

For instance, if I go to a Mexican restaurant, I ask for an extra napkin and count out 15 unsalted chips and order a grilled chicken salad using salsa as my 'dressing.' I stay away from the added tortillas, rice & beans because I prefer the 'crunch' of the chips. Or, if I really want a soft tortilla also, I try to eat grain-free the next day.

I do eat the occasional Subway... and I do eat the occasional wrap. I think life would be too difficult and mundane without grains so I do my best to limit them to one choice per day... then I don't feel quite so deprived!

Since April 12th I've lost 16.4 lbs and 20.25 inches by limiting my grains, eating more raw veggies and exercising daily. Strength training is especially important to me.

emoticon Have a GREAT week... emoticon stay strong!
