Saw a plea for help that you posted after a dumb video about "easily losing a pound a week by drinking only water and walking 10 minutes a day." We all know that is certainly not enough for us 1960's girls! But I hope to encourage you by sharing that I (age 53) found Spark People accidently last May, and since the end of May I have lost 31 pounds so far. I felt so fat and frumpy at my daughter's wedding in 2006, and I don't want to go through THAT again at my son's wedding! The amount of activity/exercise you mentioned sounds fine. What has helped me most, I think, is planning out my meals the day before, and then totally sticking to the list. Measure or weigh all the food, even though it's a hassle. And I truly believe that making sure to balance the protein (20%), carbs (50%), and fat (30%) makes a huge difference. I don't pay much attention to the calorie count, except to make sure that it's somewhere in the range (mine is 1200-1550, and I usually eat closer to the high end of that), but I make absolutely sure to balance it well. It is working slowly but surely, and way more consistently and painlessly than anything I've tried before.

Nope nope nope, you weighed in on tuesday so you don't weigh again til tuesday, and expect your body to grab that food since you've been starving and hold it until it realizes you're gonna feed it properly again. Take your measurements Mom so you know that even sometimes if you have a week where you gain that your still going down in measurements

wELL STARTED SPARKS proper eating this past tues. cause apparently wasn't eating enough. so with proper calorie intake and great new meals I put on 2 lbs which is disappointing to mean cause I want to lose weight not put it on. 8(
