Hi and welcome, I too am fighting both weight gain and diabetes so know what you are going through. In just the few weeks I have been back following the nutritional guide my blood sugars have gone down into normal values... mind you still on the Metformin... It does give me hope that with time and losing the over 50 pounds I am aiming for, that I will be able to get off Metformin and control the diabetes with diet and exercise. It takes a lot of time to get the nutritional information set up, and to plan out the days meals so your fat, protein, and carbs are in the proper balance, but so worth it as the numbers on the scale drop away. Hopefully you are not also battling health issues that prevent you from doing a lot of the exercises that will tone you up quickly, and speed up the weight loss. Alas, I have bad knees and not able to lift more than 20 pounds on top of that... so I am pretty much stuck with low impact and walking for my exercise.
Anyway, stick with your nutrition and exercise, and you will get to your goal.
PS. I am also a junk food junkie... reforming though...
Hi Connie, Welcome to SparkPeople! No matter how much weight each of us has to lose, we still go through a lot of the same things. I too was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the beginning of the year. There's some great information here and it's really helped me making good decisions about carbs. 1616 days ago
