I said I'd get my weight under control by the time I hit 30. I just turned 32 in May 2010. I refuse to waste another year of life being so overweight! I am fun, I want to be able to provide myself and everyone else with fun, and I love to run and dance, so I need to drop some pounds. Anyone with me? :)
I just registered to run my 2nd annual Flying Feather Four Mile run on Thanksgiving morning, 2010! Last year I had barely made it to a 5K and although I finished the 4 mile run, I really went very slow and just kept my feet moving like a jog - my heart rate monitor said I had burned over 1400 calories! This year, since I'm much, much lighter and have been running (well, jogging) for over a year, I can't wait to see how much better I do. I also plan on eating a piece of pumpkin pie to celebrate and reward myself! Woohoo!
I want to be healthy. I am too heavy to do things like zip lines, parasailing, etc - I do not want to have to ask what the weight limit is on everything I do. I don't care about being skinny - I just want to be fit.
Couch 2 5K is the jogging program I started previously. I completed it with a 4 mile run on thanksgiving 2009, and now I run 5Ks every week as well as some intense cross training and water training for no-impact resistance workouts (my favorite!)
I'm from Ohio, doctor of laws, learner of many languages!, general geek who enjoys education. Used to smoke a lot and eat a lot more; gave up smoking years ago and changed my lifestyle last summer (2009). Can't help other people if I can't take care of myself. :)
I do volunteer work all over the place - helping non-English speakers, helping people with no access to legal aid, helping people facing foreclosures, and helping animals who are abused. I know I can't save the world, but at least I can do enough to feel like somebody's life is a little better because of something I did. It makes it easier to sleep at night than when I made big money in corporate america. Now if I could just get a grip on my health, I'd have a pretty happy life.

My Diva Two Cents: The journey that we're all on will have bumps along the road or even detour from it, but remember those are hidden things trying to sabotage you. DO NOT let that happen to you. If you want to have something sweet or a cheat food plan for it, this way you won't feel like you did something bad when you have it. They always say take simple steps to change the way you eat to a healthier way. If you're not so good in the exercise department then start simple to, 30 minutes a day, take a walk somewhere. We tend to over think things and make them more complicated then they really are. This week chose one thing a day to change. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Here's to a great week with much success!

Hey Diva! It's challenge time once again. We're doing something different and adding a bunch of holiday fun to it. The challenge is called, "Holiday Spooktacular" and will run through till the end of the year. All three holidays; Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are involved.
