I am 30 years old and have finally changed jobs and decided to get the rest of my life in order. As a result, I started working out in February and started with a personal trainer on March 1, 2007. I see a personal trainer twice a week and go to the gym to workout six days a week. I am trying to get in better shape for myself so I can feel better about myself and what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. I am loving my new job and the new me. I started running at the end of March and could barely run at all. I gradually increased my ability to run and in May I was able to run my first mile on the treadmill. It was a great feeling. After spending time working on my pace I have been able to run the mile in 11 minutes and 9 seconds. I recently started working on running outside as well. It's completely different than running on the treadmill. I run twice a week with a friend and it's been fun.

On Saturday, September 22, 2007 I ran my first 5K and completely shocked myself with how much I was able to run and what my time was. I ran most of the 5K and did it in 37 minutes and 19 seconds. That's 12 minute miles and I think that's a huge achievement. It was great having so many friends and family members there to support me. My parents and nice cheered me on at the end and so did my brother's in-laws and other friends of the family.

I've officially decided to call this year the transition year. It's the year I'm taking back my life for the better. I'm also having the time of my life doing it.

2007 has brought me down 107 lbs officially. I'm thrilled and shocked with the weight loss. It's fun running into people I haven't seen in a long time and them not recognizing me.

2008 is going to be getting to my goal weight and then moving into maintenance mode. I'm hoping to get to my goal weight by the end of March. Time will tell though. I'm thrilled where I am now so I'm find with it going slowly to get the last of the weight off.

My Goals:
I want to be a happier and healthier person. I want to be able to run and have fun with my niece and nephews.


My Program:
I work out six days a week burning at least 850 calories a day. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I do cardio only. When I go to the gym I go on the treadmill, the bike and the ellipitical machine. If it's nice outside I go walking with my friend. Tuesdays and Thursday I work out with my trainer so it's anything he wants me to do. Saturdays or Sundays I also do weight training and cardio work. I usually do 40 to 45 minutes on the treadmill running and walking, 20 minutes on the bike and 10 minutes on the elliptical machine. Now I have to add in a new machine which is the hardest cardio machine in the gym. Thanks trainer for that new challenge.
