Hi! My name is Maria and I have a weight issue. I feel like a member of AA. But an abuse is an abuse. I have always had a weight issue dating back to when I was in 7th grade. I lost weight for high school and kept it off until I was about 25. Then I gained again taking it off when I was 28. I lost 40 pounds on Weight Watchers before I got married. Shamefully, in the last 16 years, I have gained steadily putting on 60 pounds.

So I joined Weight Watchers again in September with two friends. both of them have hit goal. I had lost 13 pounds but gained 8 back. Now I have lost most of those.

My sister, Jonnie, told me about this site on April 24, 2008. I have been logging in every day numerous times and tracking everything that has been going into my mouth. This site is great and I love it so far. So much so, I quit Weight Watchers today.

This has GOT to work. I HAVE to do this. I NEED to do this. I WILL do this! Thank you SparkPeople for the encouragement needed to change my life.

My Goals:
12/29/09 My goal is to change my life. I want to be healthier, physically and spiritually. I want to feed my body and my mind with wholesome goodness. I want to change the way I think about food and the effects it has on how I feel. I am excited to start this new journey.

My Program:
I am concentrating on eating foods that are natural in nature. Nourishing not only my body, but my mind as well. Moving my body will enhance the experience as the blood gets going. My goal is to make healthier choices and working out as natural and as effortless as brushing my teeth.

Well, you're right - we do seem to have a lot in common. 7th grade, high school, age 25, Weight Watchers... sounded like my biography there for a minute :)

I can relate to where you're at, that's for sure. Best of luck in figuring out what works for you, and if the gluten-free makes you feel better then go for it! I know I feel better for having given up sugar and white flour.
