The Greatest Wealth is Health

As a slim gal, I thought I was healthy. A cholesterol screening painted quite a different picture. Time to make some life-style changes!

Current numbers:
Cholesterol 254
LDL 159
Triglycerides 192
HDL 57

Since I recently had a kidney stone, I am extra motivated to drink the water that my body needs.

I'm also going to (eventually) walk the equivalent of the Lewis & Clark expedition. Here's my progress: 18.16 of 7700 miles

My Goals:
Long-term goals are to get cholesterol below 200, triglycerides below 150,
and LDL below 130.

I would also like to make the lifestyle change of having exercise/activity be something I do regularly and that I enjoy.

Short term goals are to drink 6-8 cups of water per day and to increase my fruit, veggie, and protein intake -- and lower my carb/boxed food intake.

My Program:
Getting active. I try to be active as soon as I come home from work, because once I slip into my pjs and sit down to relax, odds are I'm not getting back up.

I've been Sweatin' to the Oldies, walking my doggie more often, hula hooping, weight lifting, and playing tennis with the hubs.

Thanks for the High Five. Getting rid of bad habits is so hard but so worth it in the end, that's why it's so important to keep on trying even if success seems almost too far way.
