Hello! Thanks for stopping by!

For starters - I'm 47 and have had a weight problem since I was about 30. I lost 50 lbs several years ago - I didn't gain it all back - but I did gain some. I've tried several times since then to lose - but have not had success. At the beginning of this year I weighed 235 lbs., and right now I weigh 216 - it's been slow - but a loss, so I'm happy.

My ultimate goal is 150 - 160 lbs., but I'll wait until I get there to make the final decision. My short term goal right now is to get to the "onederlands" by the end of 2011. I know I can do it! (I changed my weight ticker to show a 20 lb goal - I think it's a little less intimidating of a number!)

This year has been tough - diagnosed w/ Hypothyroid, RA and Menopause. All of which will cause problems w/ weightloss, but also bring extreme reasons to lose weight.

The RA I have is called Seronegative RA, I'm still learning about it - but I'm scared to take the meds. I don't think my joints are in danger of deformity, but the pain is quite strong. I'm hoping that getting the weight off will be enough. My Dr. gave me an RX the other day, but I haven't filled it. She said that the most common side effect is deposits in the eyes. I made an appt w/ my eye dr. to talk to him about it. I know I have pain - but at least I can see.

I believe that God has a reason for everything, and at some point it will be revealed. It's easy to cry "why, why, why?" but I think the answer is simple - THIS ISN'T HEAVEN. These bodies aren't perfect - this life is not perfect. We do the best we can w/ what we have and move on, always thanking God not only for our blessing but our misfortunes as well. Things could be worse - and something always gets better.

* Update - today 11/7/11 - I did start the RA med and have been taking it for almost 2 mos now. I can't tell if I feel better or not. I had a follow up appt w/ the Rhuemy and she said give it another 3 mos to get into my system before she ups the dosage. So far I haven't had any reaction to it. Thank God. I've lost a little more weight and still working on getting below 200 lbs by the end of 2011.

My Goals:
Get healthy, feel great, have energy & just plain enjoy life!

I've started RA meds - and I really need to get the weight off of my joints.

Weight loss will be slow because of Hypothyroid and I can only do so much exercise w/ my joints. But, I have faith that I can make it!


My Program:
Watching what I eat, keeping calories in check, treadmill, elliptical & weights.

August 2011 - I haven't had any sugared yummies at all

I've been exercising consistantly (at least 5 days/wk) and lifting weights 3 days/wk.

Last week I started a sorta vegetarian diet. I'm only eating meat 3-4 meals/wk. The rest of the meals are mostly veggie. Breakfast is either an egg+toast & fruit or yogurt & fruit or high fiber cereal.

I did this several years ago and lost 50 lbs - so I'm going to give it another try.

It's an easy diet for me because I don't really have to count calories. I have to make sure I don't overeat the more caloric foods, but when I keep it mostly veggies - I can pretty much eat all I want.

The only problem I had before on this was that I LOVE meat, so it was hard watching my family eat meat while I eat the veggie platter! But, this time I have my mind in the right place.

I live in Central Florida with my husband of 18+ years and our teenage daughter.

We currently have 2 dogs and 4 cats (it's funny how stray cats decide that you are now their owner).

I love to read, write & all forms of art. I also enjoy all kinds of music.

    We are having another team dinner this week and I am trying to get an accurate count in order to make the proper reservations. It is going to be at the Ruby Tuesday on S. Florida Ave. in Lakeland. It is located just north of the Polk Parkway. I really hope that you will be able to make my day by responding with a "yes"!
