I'm in here somewhere

I have a dream. It involves flyfishing, requires a loss of 87 pounds, a big increase in fitness, learning Spanish and a roundtrip airfare to Patagonia.

The things I enjoy are flyfishing, reading, walking in the woods (too out of shape now) and writing. I'm 62 yo and have some aches, pains and injuries that have accumulated over the years.

I'm a type 2 diabetic and in less than a month on Spark People I have reduced my medication and hope to be off of it completely ...

It has occurred to me of late that I am running out of time to make that trip I have wanted for 15 years to the pristine fishing waters of Patagonia. I am already overweight and out of shape so I am here to fix that so I will be able to hike to the best fishing spots. Of course I want to go to the west side where getting around will take more muscle.

Your encouragement will be appreciated.

It is great to hear about your reduction in medication. My husband was diagnosed last year with type 2 so we have really been making an effort as of late to control it. He wasn't ready before now but since I have been making an effort to eat healthier and exercise, he has too. It is good to hear success stories. You are well on your way to Patagonia!

Good luck with your goals! I'm trying to avoid becoming a type-2 diabetic so your journey means a lot. You can do it! And I'm going to follow... Patagonia, here you come!

Thanks for stopping by my page and commenting on my critters.
My Koi is about 15-16 " long now and the gold are 8-9"
This spring I will be selling them because the house I moved from they didn't want them so I put them in a very large tank and have wintered them over in the house. The grandkids love it but it is too much work this way.
Sassy cat is my girl. She is a blue black Bombay kitty.
She has the best personality. And the softess fur you will ever feel.
Thanks again for dropping by.
You have a great day!

Hey, you're my kind of girl! Don't let your age or your weight define you - GET OUT AND DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!!! No rocking chairs for me either - way too much to do and too little time to do it.

Thanks for your comment on my blog :) I am not that interested in collecting sparkpoints- I spend alot of time on the website already but I'm sure I will lose interest soon enough and will probably forget to visit everyday. I have lots of other hobbies as well so I don't have alot of spare time. I already eat lots of vegetables and some whole grains. Our family has always had home cooked meals and we've been "dieting" since I was about 11, but back then it was the atkins. To be perfectly honest I am sick to death of carrot sticks and salads because they have always been go to foods. The reason I am so overweight is probably because I was bullied really badly when I was younger and I didn't really like socialising or playing sports, I was a big overeater and snack on lots of high sugar foods. The vegetables certainly haven't been lacking though, stirfrys and salads are nothing new in my household, but I would be very interested in trying out other recipes. I do however like the suggestion of mixing chicken and vegetables to make soups- I will have to look up some recipes on the internet. I took Food and Nutriction in highschool and was shocked to find out that there were like twelve different types of soups, all with different purposes. I want to find some low fat ones that fill me up quickly because I am a big eater and always hungry.
