One Day at a Time

After TTC for 3 years and 9 months, my DH and I found out we were expecting the Friday before Father's Day in 2010. Two months later I left my job and started graduate school at a clinical psychology program at Washburn University. I graduated in 2012, and I now work as a psychologist for the State of Kansas. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities that have come my way in the last few years, and I'm so delighted to be employed in a position that allows me to give back to my community ...

However, a long road to conception has led me to feel very humbled as well. Between school and a hectic home life I've fallen off the wagon in regards to working out and eating right. I'm looking to re-invigorate my inspiration! Additionally, I'm looking for opportunities to reach out to the IF community that I still feel very much connected to, especially as enter the world of secondary IF as we consider adding to our family.

My Goals:
1) Be more aware of and honest about what I eat and why.
2) Work out daily.
3) Stay on or below that pesky red goal line on my progress chart.

My Program:
1) Use Spark People consistently so that I am more conscious about the choices I make and can see the effects on my goals immediately.
2) Cardio with a stationary bike.
3) Zumba with a neighbor.
4) TONS of support from my husband!

Personal Information:
I recently finished a graduate program, and I've accepted a position with the State of Kansas. I had made tremendous gains in respect to weight loss and, more importantly, healthy lifestyle changes such as eating better and working out more. That probably had a lot to do with finally conceiving our beautiful baby! School and motherhood has wreaked havoc on all of my good intentions (not to mention my waistline!) and it's time to get back on track :) .

Other Information:
I married my wonderful husband a little over 6 yeras ago, and we began TTC right away. It took us 3 years and 9 months to conceive our daughter. While I'm not presently TTC, I feel quite connected to the IF community. For me, Spark People provided a bright light in the darkest corners of my world. Here, hard work and determination really are all you need tom achieve your goals. I'm glad to be reconnecting!

Most of the people who joined when you did have long since quit and resolved to stay fat, but you have changed your life and that is a real accomplishment! Now this second year will be even better.

Do read "Shrink Yourself" by Roger Gould, M.D. on how to deal with stress and not regain the pounds. He has clips on YouTube.

Hey lady! I see that all my excitement over this website rubbed off! Isn't it great? I haven't weighed myself yet...I don't have a scale! Haha. I think that I've lost some weight but we will see once I get a scale.
