On My Way Towards a Healthier Life

I joined Sparkpeople on January 19, 2009 at the weight of 178 after losing 40 pounds and losing momentum. I had lost another 40 pounds after I joined and am getting healthier every day which was my main reason for losing weight. I love the motivation I've been getting from all the different features of this site but I really enjoy my teams and challenges so I finally managed to create a spark page! At the end of August I got really sick with bronchitis/pneumonia and couldn't workout for 7 weeks ...

I love the motivation I've been getting from all the different features of this site but I really enjoy my teams and challenges so I finally managed to create a spark page! At the end of August I got really sick with bronchitis/pneumonia and couldn't workout for 7 weeks and ate totally different and gained about 15 pounds. I really struggled with those pounds since then and several family birthdays in the Fall and a big 40th anniversary trip to Hawaii and too many parties were always setting me back. After postponing my doctor appointment and blood work for 6 months which I shouldn't have done I found out at my visit yesterday that my thyroid has gotten slower again and could have been a major factor in my weight gain as well as my cholesterol and BP going back up. I am on stronger meds now and am planning on moving this tracker back down but right now my weight is a disappointment to everyone! I am definitely getting my medical tests and visits done on time from now on!! Hope my commitment will still inspire you rather than discourage you - I will succeed with Spark! My Goals:
September 5, 2008 weighed 218 and decided to commit to a healthier lifestyle
November 5, 2008 weighed 198 and joined a health club with nutrition program also
January 19,2009 weighed 178 and starting to lose motivation joined spark and regained more enthusiasm than imaginable.
Weighed 134.5 at my low in Aug. 2009.
Doctor had taken me off of high blood pressure medicine and cholesterol medicine and my readings were great. The health was my primary goal first but I am really enjoyed looking good as well and so did my husband of 40 years! This last year has had many setbacks for me but I am resetting my info, refocusing and on stronger thyroid meds and will get back to goal again!
