I started losing weight in January, 2004 when I weighed 332 pounds. I lost 152 pounds by December, 2006 and weighed 180 pounds. At that time, I was awarded the Curves National Sweetheart Award and featured as a success story on Richard Simmons site. Between December 2006 and September 2010, I slowly regained 59 pounds.

I'm back now trying to get the weight off again. I set my goal weight higher this time based on the advice of my weight management doctor and therapist. They thought my previous goal weight was too low and that is what set me up for getting frustrated and going off track. I would have achieved goal months before December 2006, if I had been using my current goal weight then. Hopefully my whole attitude will be different when I get to that weight again and know I am at goal. I will feel more like the success story that I really was.

My Goals:
My goal is to follow my weekly food plan and stay within my calorie goal. My exercise goals are to exercise daily for at least 30 minutes as well as walk 5,000 steps per day. Also, I need to develop a better sleep schedule.

My Program:
I have a written weekly plan of what I am going to eat and if I go out where I will eat. I use a heart rate monitor to determine how many calories I burn when exercise. I wear a pedometer from morning until night everyday. I usually see my doctor every other week for weigh in and to review my food and exercise records from SparkPeople. I also attend Weight Watchers and track my points with their eTools. I use the iPhone app for SparkPeople to track my food and exercise.

Personal Information:
I am from Janesville, Wisconsin.

Other Information:
"How does one become a butterfly? You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar."
- Trina Paulus

This quote embodies my philosophy. What I believe it is saying is that you must give up your old ways that don't help you accomplish your goals. When you do, you will be free to fly and accomplish whatever you dream.

Hey classy76! I just found your spark page, and I too was in the early 300 weight range. I recently read Dr. Bert Herring's book, the Fast-5 Diet, about intermittent fasting after seeing his talk on Ted Talk, and it has been a much freer experience for me with food. I know I will always have to manage my food intake, but having a block of time each day when the negotiation with and about food is off the table frees me up to get other things done in my life. I think that is the closest thing I will come to freedom that there is. And I like being on the side of the scale going down and this see s to be happening, too, after I gained some weight back in the past 8 years. All the best in your health goals.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I lost 65 and have gained about 30 of that back. I have now started again and hope to reach my goal this time and keep it off.
