I have been a member for over a year and have made no progress. In fact, I have gained back most of the weight I had lost. WHAT TO DO?

I have reflected on the past year and decided that I need to make me and my health a priority. In doing so, I can reach my goals.
First, I made an appointment with my gyno for my yearly checkup which I skipped last year. I went for a mammogram and will have a bone density test too. I have also schedule a colonoscopy and need to get bloodwork done to check where I'm at and what I need to do. Today I will sit down and write down my goals for exercising and eating. I know the key to all this is PLANNING and CONSISTENCY. Please help me with any ideas you may have.

My Goals:
1. Recuperate from knee surgery.
2. Watch what I eat more closely.
3. Exercise my mind and soul.
4. Meditate.
5. Work out my plan of attack for the future.


My Program:
After all these months of pain, I finally got my knee surgery. I should have had this surgery in August when I first injured my knee but my doctor did not ask for an mri. He kept giving me exercises and medication. It was my primary doctor who finally asked for the mri and found out that I had a torn meniscus that required surgery. Now I have to recuperate and attack my weight loss with a healthy diet and mind.



Personal Information:
I live in Laredo, TX. I am a pre-kindergarten teacher and I love my job. I have 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. My boys are all married and have their families. My daughter is the youngest at 22 and still lives at home. Three of my sons live in California, 1 lives in Vancouver, WA, and the other in Uvalde, TX.
I love to read and enjoy exercising.


Other Information:
I love watching sports, particularly basketball. I'm a big time San Antonio Spurs fan.

    Thank you all for your support. I have been swamped at work. Now I need to get everything in order for my class. I will be having knee surgery on December 9th and will miss the last 7 days of school before the holidays. I am determined not to let this stop me. I am starting with WW this coming weekend and doing upper body exercise until I can start walking again. Wish me luck. emoticon emoticon

    I saw your message on the "Where are you walking to?" team huddle and just wanted to check in and offer support. I'm glad that you're able to walk. I know you want to do more, but being able to walk is a good start. If you want to increase the intensity without making things too much harder, especially on your knee, add some hills or some stairs. I've lost about 75 lbs (so far) and walked a marathon, two halfs, and a host of shorter races over the past 4 years. As someone suggested on one of your blog entries, do try an elliptical or bike to give your knee a rest and add some variety. Stop by my page anytime!

    This raft ride down the Colorado was really quite easy, and one who cannot swim has NOTHING to fear. They provide life jackets for you if you want. PLUS, only the NUTTY sit on the pontoons....where you could conceiveably be bumped off! Ceratinly they got more wet than I did. I sat on a regular seat and was FINE!!!
