Only 30 more pounds and I will be at my goal.....who would of ever thought!!!
30 pounds sounds like A LOT of weight, but after already dropping 80 pounds, the final 30 seems soooo attainable.
December 25, 2001 will be a day I will never forget! Christmas Day is supposed to be a happy day, but when I stood on the scale that morning and the hand went all the way up to 300 pounds, I felt all feeling just drain from my body. There were no words to explain how horrible I felt.
I had tried different diets and even enrolled in Weight Watchers but nothing was working for me.
They say that when you're ready to do something and have a mind set for it, it will happen. My husband and I moved from Newfoundland to Alberta in April 2006. I joined Curves in September of 2006 and weighed in at 274 pounds even. I enjoyed the work out, however, it was a little lonely as I didn't have a workout partner. After a couple of months, I just gave up going and used the excuse of it was too cold outside and I didn't want to come home from work and have to bundle up and head to the gym. In April of 2007, we moved to Grande Prairie (still in Alberta). I had met up with a friend who was living here as well that I had gone to high school with. In September 2008 I had decided to give Curves another go and we both joined together. I weighed in this time at 270 pounds. We got to know the 2 evening staff really well and they are both "amazing" people. After a couple of months, my friend just stopped going. I credit it to my now 2 new friends for making the gym so much fun that I continued to go. There were some staffing changes and the one girl moved on to another job. Gwen, however, just changed from working the evenings to doing some hours on the weekends and we have now become the best of workout buddies. She definitely motivates me and I "think" I motivate her too....hahaha.
Having Gwen is definitely my biggest motivation, but as well.....seeing my numbers go down is also motivation and lets me know I can do it!
In December 2009, I weighed in at 215.20 pounds and by February 2010 I was up to 217.40 pounds. My weight was fluctuating a couple of pounds up or down from one month to the next but I had plateaued. One night at the gym in conversation I had said to Gwen I just didn't know what to do anymore cause I can't seem to get my weight to budge. She suggested I try Spark People! I decided I had nothing to lose and gave it a try. ADDICTED barely explains the way I am to this site ever since! I love everything about it. It was also a big eye opener for me with such things as condiments.....those little things that you don't realize how many calories they are until you measure and count.
I had originally set my goal for 180 pounds which is where I actually wanted to be and although my weight was going down, I always felt like I was soooo far away from my goal. I began to set smaller goals and then it was exciting to reach them and then set another one. My biggest goal was to get my weight below 200 pounds which I did in July 2010. I have since changed my goal down to 160 pounds because I would like to have 5-10 pounds to play with in case of vacation or just having a bad couple of days and I NEVER EVER want to see the 200 pound mark again.

To say it has been an easy journey would be a lie! It has definitely taken time and A LOT of determination and will power, but to say it has not been an enjoyable journey would also be a lie!....I have enjoyed every minute of it. We work out at Curves Mon-Fri and I look forward to it every day! !
