My Journey

Hi, my name is Carol. I'm 45, have been married for 21 years, and have 4 kids (19,16,15, and 13). I have NEVER been skinny, but over the last few years, the weight has kept creeping up on me. I had been finding it so hard to take it off now that I'm in my 40's. I thought Sparkpeople would be a great tool to motivate me....and besides, it's FREE!

With the help of this awesome site, and an unbelievable Personal Trainer, I have turned my life around in the last 9 months. My weight loss journey continues, but I am in the best shape I have been in since my 20's!

I have been so inspired that I decided to get my certification to become a Personal Trainer. I have a degree in Exercise Science that I have never put to practical use, but I just thought "It's never to late to decide what you want to be when you grow up!" LOL

I am hopeful that my own journey will make me a better trainer in that I can be empathetic about my clients' struggles while setting a good example for what can be accomplished at a later stage of life!

My Goals:
To be the best darn 45-year-old Personal Trainer there is!

My Program:
I am using the food tracker and the fitness tracker here on Sparkpeople to keep me on track.

My exercise includes circuit training (combo of cardio and strength) for 1 hour 3 times a week, and interval training (walk/jog) for 30-40 min 2 times a week.

Well, I have quite a bit more than a "few" to lose...so I am absolutely in! Got my cardio in today...although it was pretty light since I'm still working on getting this hip healed! And I've been good on the eating since last Monday...was going to do Weight Watchers again but they have my points so low that I was under 1000 calories a day!!!! I lost 5 pounds last week...great but not the best way to do it!! Haha!! I'd heard about SparkPeople a while ago...and the fact they have an awesome FREE iPhone app sold me! So here I am!

Hi there! Saw you were a new member on Teachers With Attitude. Glad you are here. If you need encouragement or just want to get a "woo-hoo" for your accomplishments, then this is the place to come. I have been a member since June '07 and have lost 13.5 lbs by just logging in and keeping up with my eating, drinking, and exercising. Has it been easy? Thanks for commenting on my blog about evening snacking. Logging on to SP is helping me becauses it distracts me...I also eat dinner a little later so I'm not as hungry in the evenings. Anything work for you that might help me too?
