My kidneys are dead and I am too over weight to get on a transplant list.


Just let that sentence sink in for a moment.


Not much to say right now. I have to lose weight or die, simple as that.

The Ten Commandments of Permanent Fat Removal

1. Thou shalt honor and believe in thyself.

2. Thou shalt move thy booty. Move it and move it some more.

3. Thou shalt never go hungry again. Eat small meals and healthy snacks throughout the day.

4. Thou shalt stock the fridge with the right stuff - the fruits and vegetables of the earth, the melba toast of men who walked before us.

5. Thou shalt honestly write it down. If you bite it, you must write it.

6. Thou shalt weigh and measure thyself and thy food.

7. Thou shalt drink enough Holy Water to frighten Noah and map out all the restrooms in thy village. (Which for me is 1 liter a day due to my kidney failure)

8. Thou shalt not deny thyself a treat or two now and then.

9. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's plate.

10. Thou shalt not eat out of misery, boredom, anxiety ... but should they over-indulge, forgive thyself immediately.

Hi, my name is Chris and I am from Louisville Kentucky. I have been on dialysis for almost three years now. I am just now kicking myself in the butt to lose weight so I can get on the transplant list.

CJ, don't give up! Keep pushing! You CAN you CAN you CAN do this - a pound at a time. A piece of fruit at a time. Some arm exercises while you're sitting when walking is too much to handle.

There is a way; you can create and feed your will to get healthy; you can do this!

Welcome to the "Loving your Kidneys" team. There are some team members who are in stage 4/5 with a large weight loss goal, so you are not alone!

This is the most active team of which I'm a member; folks stop in and post or read regularly. It has made a difference for me - I joined right after I was diagnosed (I'm stage 3) and the team members did a wonderful job of helping me navigate all the related issues, diets, tests, etc. so I'm able to make much better choices for myself.

So, stop by often and jot a note to tell us more about yourself, your health challenges and improvements!
