Baby Steps

My wonderful husband turned 50 and had a heart attack. He's in great shape, eats right and exercises... me, not so much. I got him through the healing process and decided I needed to get serious about getting fit and losing all the weight that's crept up.

I'm tossing the prepackaged, premade food.. reading packages and concentrating on fibre and balance. I'm walking and when I lose my weight, I'm gifting myself with lessons to fly a glider.. something I've always wanted to do. ...

Update 2 years later. My goals and purpose are the same. I got off track due to illness but didn't realize I was ill. It turned out to be diabetes and I was diagnosed 2 months ago (April 2012). I'm totally back on track and excited about my future.

I've lost 19 lbs since my diagnosis and I've gotten serious about excercise and I'm loving it. I'll be gliding before the end of this summer!

My Goals:
Long term:
Lose 50 lbs
Feel better, look better, be stronger

Short term - next 3 months:
Real size 16 by end of summer

1 hour daily of movement

1/2 hr. daily meditation

Become confident in being able to adjust my insulin intake

My Program:
Tracked food intake for 2 weeks and found out that cheese, chocolate and too much bread were the major problems in my diet and I wasn't getting anywhere near 25 gms of fiber so I tossed the cheese and chocolate and most of the prepackaged food in the house and now I make a point of having enough fiber in the form of cereal, fruit and veggies.


Personal Information:
Mom of two wonderful boys and an amazing daughter-in-law, wife of an exceptionally funny and loving man and friend to my wonderful sisters.

It's easy to be happy when surrounded by love so I'm almost always blissful.

So I looked all over town for petite gray yoga pants. Found some in a drawer at home! Ha! They are the comfy pants I wore all over China. Didn't even know. emoticon
