Hello,

Hello,

I came to Sparkpeople to make a positive change in my life. I was unhappy with my weight and my outlook on life had become a bit grim.

I began menopause a few years ago and I battled depression along with it. The hot flashes, night sweats and depression were getting the best of me.

I was so blessed to have found a group of women that I have come to know as friends. We are not only on our Spark Journey together, we are taking our Menopausal journey one step at a time.

I am six pounds from my goal weight, I went back to school and I am becoming a professional photographer. I am mapping my goals and strategies for myself to help me accomplish all the good things I am looking forward to in life.

I have learned so many things while I have been here at Sparkpeople. I still fall off the wagon and I occasionally have my bad days, but they are few and far between.

I focus on being healthy and happy. I have left the negativity and depression behind. I thank Sparkpeople and all the wonderful people who are on my journey with me for that gift.

My Goals:
I would like to complete a mini-triathlon and a marathon in the next year.

My Program:
I am watching my caloric and carbohydrate intake.

I also work out on my elliptical three to four days a week. I swim with my grandbeauties as much as possible. They tend to make swimming more of a strength training workout than cardio.
The ability to swim nearly year round is one of the best things about living in Florida.

Personal Information:
I have been married to a pretty wonderful man for twenty-nine years.

We have three grown daughters who are still the lights of our lives, an awesome son-in-law, and two grand daughters who are frustrating, beautiful, funny, mischevious and did I mention beautiful?

We are so lucky that we all live within ten miles of each other. I get to have my empty nest and see my kids all the time. What could be better?

Other Information:
I am an amatuer photographer who would like to become a professional. I am working towards that goal now.

I am also a menopausal mom! I think going for a triathlon is a great goal. We have a number of people on the team that are tri athletes, it's all good stuff!

Come talk to everyone on the daily forum so that we can all get to know you better. It's a great place to post your exercise, eating or whatever you are working on. We can cheer you on or help you try to stay on track.

Hi Cindy,Challenge Time: This was posted and very true.
Hope this gets you back out in the water if you haven't been in awhile.

Now we may all be individual swimmers but all swimmers are on a team. In teams I think its all about encouraging each other to do our own personal best. So I want you to post on someone's blog, page, or Goodie Bag some sort of encouragement. Find some team members that said they wanted to join but haven't jumped in yet. OR Find someone that hit their personal best and tell them your proud of them. Make it creative, spread the spark, and give some love. Try to avoid giving one person many encouragements. Find someone that has been overlooked!
