My 8 inch f/6 Telescope
My life may be full of ups and downs but I don't have to dwell on the lows. I'm the ponytail girl!
From a place of quiet reflection comes inner strength.
The SKY does NOT have to be the LIMIT they claim it to be, but can instead be a DOORWAY toward your dreams and your future of your choosing.
My history? When my weight started to creep up on me I found SP! Through SP I lost back down to my goal weight and was maintaining that for about a year when my husband had a lengthy hospital stay and eventually passed away.
I have been on a roller coaster with life since then, but I am managing with a lot of help from God, my church family, friends, and yes, indeed, from Spark People.
Through it all I have held fast to my conviction "NOT to give up or give in." I continue to live in my house and fight those battles that come with living alone daily, with the help of the Lord, my Christian family, my friends and my spark people friends.
Through all of this I have gained more confidence then I thought I could ever have and hopefully I will grow stronger and wiser, and not be overwhelmed. You are all very important to me and you remain one of my "lifelines".
Praise be to God for his blessings and providing that DOORWAY to the future and SP for teaching me and all of us here to open and walk through that door! "
After my husband died I was very active and lost even more weight. I managed to reach 145 and was quite happy with that. Then I got heel spurs and my activity level went down due to not being able to walk and get around easily. I was doing major farm chores and noticing how much my back and hips hurt when I found out I needed two hip replacements. I put off doing that for as long as I could because I had my pets and my mom depending on me for so much. That is when the weight started slowly creeping up again.
Now my heel spurs are gone and last year I had both hips replaced. With these health issues behind me I am ready now to try to fight my way back down to 145.
It will be a challenge since I managed to hit 215 when I finally decided to do something about it. At first I did fairly well on my own but just kept losing and gaining it back. That is when I decided to come back to where I had lost the weight before, I am looking forward to hearing from you all. I am really going to need your support.
I was 210 when I came back to SP and now I am ready to take back my life!
My goal now is to lose from 210 to 180 first. Then I want to lose from 180 to 150. I will be healthier there. I believe by breaking this down into smaller, more attainable goals I will have less of a chance of being discouraged.
I have been trying to follow the spark people guidelines, keeping my calories down, but not depriving myself to the point of causing extreme cravings.
I have found someone who will walk with me. She is not overweight but the doctor wants her to walk for health reasons. Having a walking buddy I think will motivate me more and be safer for me since I am still getting my legs to recognize my new hip replacements.
I like to walk indoors and do stairsteps and strength training exercises in the winter. When the weather permits I will enjoy walking outdoors with my walking buddy.
I am a member of the Church of Christ and am the webmaster for our church site. I also put our preacher's sermons on the web and make copies of them for those who would like to listen to a sermon they missed. Our church website is churchofchristmarshfld.org
I used to play and teach most stringed instruments and I play at local historical venues, the nursing homes, and retirement centers.
I have lots of interests which include:
family, friends, animal "friends", both pets and wildlife, looking at the universe through my telescopes, walking and hiking, playing 42, and being a volunteer for non-profit org projects and needs in the community.
I would like to hear from others and share support and weight loss tips, or just chat a while.
I enjoy traveling, seeing new places, and making friends. The only continental states I have missed exploring thus far are Nevada, N. Dakota, Wisconsin, Maryland, Deleware and Alaska.
I don't know if time and opportunity will allow me to get to these states at my age but I can always hope.
My favorite time of year is anytime when the weather is between 65-85 degrees.
My favorite past times are astronomy and playing my fiddle, guitar, mandolin, or banjo, hiking in the woods, gardening. and playing 42
I miss my husband. I lost him 7 years ago. During the first year it was hard sometimes but I felt like he was near helping me to help myself by bringing to mind the converstations or information I remember him giving me when I had a problem to solve problems. I am not alone though, because God has been there to see me through. He has also blessed me with a new be
