Hi my name is Derek. I've lost 25 pounds doing cardio and now I want to start doing strength training on a regular basis. Also, I want to do this from home. I just bought a TRX system (waiting for it to come in mail) and I have dumbbells, etc. I'm also currently doing the hundredpushup.com program and am on week 2. That site also has situps, dips etc and I want to start up on those too.

My Goals:
To keep eating healthy and to exercise consistently for all of 2012 and hopefully beyond that. If I can achieve this goal, it will be the first year in my entire life where I can say I kept at it for an entire year. I want my Facebook/MFP status for next January 1st to say: I have been waiting so long to say this.... I have consistently exercised and focused on healthy eating for 365 days in a row!!!!!!

Hi, my name is Derek! Nice to meet you! :) Feel free to add me as a friend. The more inspiration I can get/give the better!

I've gone on and off fitness/healthy eating for the past ten years; most of that time I was off it! After my 2011 new years resolution failed I stopped caring and was at my highest weight ever. I don't think being over weight feels very good at all and increased health problems start happening as well. I decided I didn't want to feel uncomfortable or have health issues as I get older. I started my new lifestyle change in September of 2011 by walking ten thousand steps a day and eventually eating healthier. By January of 2012 I lost twenty pounds and I'm now mostly at my target weight. I could probably lose 5 more pounds or so according to the BMI indicators, but at this point I'm not worried about it so much as I'm starting to do more strength training.

Some things I often think about:

The human body was designed to move -- so move it!

You got to move it move it, you got to move it move it! - You know, that kids movie Madagascar - I think about that song all the time.

Get up early in the morning kinda like Rocky Balboa did. I'll never forget that scene where he is cracking the eggs into the glass and then he goes for his morning run; pure awesomeness!

Everyday is new years day! If you have a bad day, don't worry so much about it. Just start over fresh the next day and get back up again.

Which reminds me of another song in the nineties from the one hit wonder band called Chumbawamba. They sing over and over in the chorus... "I get knocked down, but I get up again, ain't ever gonna keep me down." -- I think of this when I come off a bad day.

I feel like you are a kindred spirit. I lost about 100 lbs previously and got down pretty much to my ideal weight. Then I got married and stopped exercising and watching my diet. Consequently, I gained 78 lbs over aeveral years. Now I am back down 34 lbs with plans to lose another 54. I am working in some strength training and, after I lose the rest of my weight, I'm going to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Stay strong my friend!
