About time!

I'm Chris, and yes, I guess I have to admit to being 60. So it's about time I got my act together and lost weight for good! A Sparkfriend, QueenOftheForest, got me on to the Beck Diet Solution book, and that's just what I've been needing. (Especially after eating so much at my birthday party cuz the food looked so good, I may not ever see it again, and I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, that I got sick).

So using the principles from her book, and tools from Sparkpeople, I'm determined to finally, finally become thin as well as fit!

Joined Sparkpeople July 4, 2009 - I am lucky to be retired and after years of putting on (with occasional small losses) the pounds, this is IT! I'm getting fit for good. I love to hike and do things outside, so I have lots of motivation. Now I'm gonna use the tools to get there!

My Goals:
Lose weight!! Focusing on 5 pounds right now, but getting to 125 would be wonderful!

Track food and exercise every day.

More fun goals - Take several backpack trips, lead more hikes, get more biking in, and keep finding something new I've never done before- TBD!!

My Program:
I hike, snowshoe, go to the gym, and bike. I hope to challenge myself more and be more active. I need to watch my portion sizes better, too!

To get more specific (which I think I need to be!) :

Eat only what I've planned to.

Do strength training or Pilates at least 2x a week
Take a hike or equivalent (eg, long bike ride, x-c ski) at least 2x a week
Get sweaty doing something aerobic at least 5 days a week
- which means EVEN if its raining!!

Personal Information:
I live in Lincoln, CA. Married and have a lovely dog. I love to hike, snowshoe, x-country ski and bike.

Hi Chris. So glad you got the book. This is my second time going through it. I also worked on several chapters as challenges arose. I am feeling so great it is fun and I am losing steadily. Beck makes it easy. Good luck. I hope you enjoy it and I will love to hear about your progress.

Hi Chris! So great to see you are back on. I have followed a similar route lately. I have been using the logging and tracking tools but not the community tools. And I never gained back the bulk of the weight I lost here on Spark, I never got to my goal either. I retired last year and love it. Now is the time to get with the program and lose those last pounds. Hope to see lots of you in the next year! Or more....

Thanks for adding me as a friend, I added you too. I see Vivian (MISS VIV) is also one of your Spark friends, she lives pretty close to you I think. She was here in Oregon a few weeks ago and stopped by for a visit, there's a picture of the two of us on my page. We moved to Grants Pass in January this year from Willits, a really small town on Hwy. 101 in Northern California. I look forward to getting to know you better. emoticon

Thanks Chris for the visit to my new pup's pict. I lost my Silly Milly one month ago today. Little Lilly came the following week. She is a love. She will have large paws to follow. But I think she will make her own dog tracks!
