New Year and New Efforts to get and stay Fit

Joined July 4, 2009 - I am lucky to be retired and after years of putting on (with occasional small losses) the pounds, this is IT! I'm getting fit for good. I love to hike and do things outside, so I have lots of motivation.

I plan to keep up on exercising and eating healthy to get to my body fat down. The more hiking the better!!

My Goals:
Lose some weight!!

While I kept up activity in 2013, I didn't lose any weight - I need to be more diligent tracking!

More fun goals - Take several backpack trips, lead more hikes, get more biking in, and do something new I've never done before- TBD!!

My Program:
I hike, snowshoe, go to the gym, and occasionally bike. I hope to challenge myself more and be more active. I need to watch my portion sizes better, too!

To get more specific (which I think I need to be!) :

Really try not to take seconds! (wait 15 min)

Do strength training or Pilates at least 2x a week
Take a hike or equivalent (eg, long bike ride, x-c ski) at least 2x a week
Get sweaty doing something aerobic at least 5 days a week
- which means EVEN if its raining!!

Personal Information:
I live in Lincoln, CA. I'm retired, so a big 'activity' of mine now is trying to get in better shape. I love to hike, snowshoe, x-country ski and bike.

Thanks so much for your support! And thanks for reading my first half-marathon blog! For my first time I wanted to come in under 2:30:00 and I just made it. I found out that my official time was 2:29:41....Woohoo!!!! Who would've thought that 4 years ago when I started running that I would be going this distance. I enjoyed the experience and look forward to running another.
