trying to quit my yo-yo habit

Background info: Usually I am at the top of my healthy weight range, and tend to yo-yo back and forth across the boundary between overweight and normal BMI. I am really sick of doing this cycle!

Basically, I would prefer to be at the bottom or solidly maintaining in the middle of my healthy weight range, without going into the overweight category! and hopefully get more toned along the way.

I'm learning to track my calories religiously, and stick to a bare minimum ...

My Goals:
To be a healthier person. To aim to be the best version of ME that I can be.

I love and respect food, and so have to practice exercising moderation and portion control...and impulse control.

My Program:
Baseline:
150 minutes of moderate to intense exercise a week.

Also:
Walk, walk, walk. Basically I try to walk everywhere possible. I take long walks for relaxation and enjoyment. I sometimes go out of my way to walk extra to destinations. I might go on slow "digestion walks" during my lunch breaks. Occasionally I go long-walking to get a breath of fresh air and to de-stress...

I try not to lead such a sedentary lifestyle!

Examples:
- Go for a quick jog and a long walk instead of watching TV.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
- Get off the train one stop farther away and walk extra to destination.

I started to jog a mile around my neighborhood a couple times a week. Working to increase the length of time and speed at which I can jog.

Engage in gym streaks every now and then.

Finally: stay within range on the calories Sparkpeople recommends.
!!! This is so hard !!!

Personal Information:
I used to live in pedestrian friendly NYC, which made it easy and convenient to walk around! And fun to people watch on the way to places.

Now that I've moved to tiny rural city, I need a car to get around. I have to work hard to add walking to my routine.

My major gripe is that most US suburbs are built for cars, without town services and centers that are easy to walk to...so it becomes harder to incorporate walking into your routine.

Other Information:
All the little changes add up to make a powerful difference!

Hey, thanks for the support and advice on my blog the other day! it cheered me up some :o) Yeah my circumstances are definitely not conducive to finding new friends right now, and thats definitely something i want to change.

I've decided to make a list of a bunch of activities I want to try, and hopefully getting out there will help change things, dancing is on the list hehe ;o) I want to challenge myself too and break out of my comfort zone.

I'm sure I'll feel waaaay less stressed after exams, so for now I'll just keep my chin up and get through it!
