My Goals:
Lose a total of 60 to 65 pounds. Have lost 20 pounds so far since joining Sparks. (Feb 2013 started weight "ticker" at current weight after that first 20 pound loss to "reboot" dieting incentive) Get in shape for some hiking and backpacking trips both locally and to some of our National Parks. (Plus I just need to lose those pounds, trips or no trips!) Give away all my "fat" clothes, never to be worn again!
My Program:
Follow a heart-healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and veggies... keep track of what I'm eating, stop the late night "tv snacks" of junk food. Exercising: Minimum of 60 min. exercising per day at least 5 days a week by walking outside if the weather permits, (or use treadmill if the weather is "bad") adding a bit more distance and time each week. (Want to work up to a week long backpacking trip this summer)
Personal Information:
Live "out in the country", retired school teacher, ....I never used to have to worry about my weight, but several years ago I was diagnosed with thyroid disease and due to treatment and the medications for that I quickly packed on 60 pounds that I just can't seem to lose, no matter how hard I try.... Next I completed chemo for two battles with cancer, & the drugs used also caused weight gain :-( Recently, I had knee sugery for total knee replacement of both knees, But that was a "good thing" because now I'm able to do more hiking, backpacking, and kayaking among other outdoor activities that I love! I enjoy outdoor activities: scuba diving, kayaking, hiking and camping, gardening, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ...anything "outdoorsy"
