This was due for an update! I found this site in July 2007 and haven't missed a day since than I don't believe. I use the calories set out for me but cycle them so that I eat high calorie and low calorie days. I love this plan! Also I cut out white products in favor of wheat. We now eat brown rice, wheat bread, wheat pasta and rolls. No ground beef either. All ground turkey, turkey burgers, chicken or turkey Italian sausage and such. That's more for my hubby who has high cholesterol, and I'd rather have him around for awhile, so he has to eat better too.
I also was typically always smaller sized and kinda just looked in the mirror one day and this robust(nicer than FAT) woman looked back! I was beginning to look like a linebacker! None of my clothes fit, I jiggled all over, my tummy was huge, my legs and arms were balloons and my waistline actually came outward! If I put my hands on my hips and went up I came out! Yeah! Quite gross! Than I also seen the number 194 show up on a scale at my Doctors office. That was it. It was on and on strong! I was not going to see 200lbs on my scale! Oh no! So I was thankful I was able to start this before I became any bigger. From there the war began, and I haven't stopped fighting since!
It's been a long and trying process, but I never gave in. The support on this site has helped so much! I owe the members on here just as much credit during my loss as myself. I really don't think I could have done it without SP.
Well, now I'm closing in on my goal, and cannot believe I'm writing that! Each pound block, I never thought I'd pass! The 180's took forever, the 170's, and I never thought I'd get out of those 150's! Now I'm nearing 130's! I haven't seen them for years! About 9 years actually! My point is..........

My husband and I quit smoking 10/06 and decided I was going to live a healthy lifestyle and that meant losing weight as well.
When I started, my hope was to just lose 20 pounds as I never thinking I could. I put a goal of 140 NEVER thinking I'd get close! Here I am at 142(*130 now*), and think I'm going to try another ten pounds maybe. I'm going by what my body looks like versus scale numbers, so I'm not quite sure yet where exactly I'll end up number wise.
Diet: It's actually taken me many months to kinda pick up some sort of program that worked for me in the eating department. I went into this in the total blind with no idea what I was supposed to do to lose weight. Now that I'm nearing my goal, Sherlock, I think I finally found it! I'm a CCC (Calorie Counter Cycler) I go by a weekly plan and not a daily plan. I'm now allowed 9100 calories per week, to lose weight, or roughly 1350 calories per day. I will have 1600 calories today and than 1200 tomorrow and 1350 the next day and so on. It works just perfect for me.
Exercise: I do a good 45-60 minutes of cardio daily, as well as strength and ab work. I currently follow Leslie Sansone's walking tapes and do 3-5 mile tapes with weights. I also am adding Turbo Jam for some deeper sculpting, and use Ab Jam 3x a week. I have an elliptical that I use on/off as I love my DVD workouts the best, but do try to get on that at least 1x a week.
Weight loss: Typically 5-6lbs a month
Weight Change Chart:
I accredit Pilates to healing my back and neck. I'm sure the weight loss and tummy shrinkage helped as well... but Pilates literally healed me. I had been on every pain and muscle pill, and walked daily in pain. Sometimes I'd be laid up for weeks or even a month at a time it was so bad. Now? Hmmm, can't say I recall my last "Oh my back", nope, sure can't!
And I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Leslie Sansone's DVD's. She in my opinion is the bomb! I want to follow her tapes everyday and did a 6 week challenge doing that. I realize I have to give them up a few times a week to add other cardio, which I do Turbo Jam, or the elliptical.
