Getting to Healthy

Last fall I took an exercise class with my parents back east at their retirement community. There were people in their 90's taking the class. I made me realize how important it is to keep moving my body, to be strong and healthy. This winter I have been working out hard and trying to eat better.

Personal Information:
I grew up in the Northeast, where life was an outdoor playground. I've been in Chicago 17 years and miss the mountains so much, but love this city. Finding the right balance between working and exercising is a challenge.

Other Information:
Currently reading Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma". Very informative book about where our food comes from.

Congrats on your first HM....and what a great finishing time! I imagine that emotions were strong with the anniversary of 9/11 and the firetrucks being there. Something you will never forget.

Hope, thanks for the comment and encouragement! Glad you did well on your run this past weekend-hope your foot stays good. Stretch it out by rolling a frozen water bottle under your foot back and forth to stretch the tendon and avoid plantar fascitis. Would like to do the Madison dash but I'm staying close to home for right now until I get this medical stuff cleared up. You're a great Sparkfriend and I hope to meet up with you soon!

Thanks for stopping by and thinking of me. Just stuck in a rut with some things in my personal life, so unfortunately the gym bore the brunt of it, but I went for a 18 min swim this morning before work...baby steps, right???
