Getting to Healthy

Last fall I took an exercise class with my parents back east at their retirement community. There were people in their 90's taking the class. I made me realize how important it is to keep moving my body, to be strong and healthy. This winter I have been working out hard and trying to eat better.

Personal Information:
I grew up in the Northeast, where life was an outdoor playground. I've been in Chicago 17 years and miss the mountains so much, but love this city. Finding the right balance between working and exercising is a challenge.

Other Information:
Currently reading Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma". Very informative book about where our food comes from.

emoticon thanks for comment on my bucket list! I have done so many things this year it is amazing! I am not going to stop running, but I believe I need to increase miles slower than what the Galloway 1/2 plan was doing. I'm thinking 1/5 mile at a time. I can do a 6.2 w/o issue. Problems start about 6.5 miles, so I'll work up to that and slowly increase.

Hello! Yes, I'm still around. I'm finding things really busy right now with family/work and vacation committments. We are having unseasonably warm fall weather and I've really been enjoying it! Hope things are good with you!

Well, I guess I got more than a medal out of that half....although it never turned black, one of my toenails is more tender than it has been and is starting to lift and well, you don't want to really know the rest of the ugly truth, but I won't be wearing my "good socks" for a few days.
