I am all of these things and I'm striving to squash negative habits of the past and be the best person I can be. I've lost 50lbs before through sparkpeople, but since having a baby and trying to fit weight-loss in with my everyday life and responsibilities--I'm stuck. I don't know how long it will take me, but more important than any number on a scale, I want to love myself and feel alive. I want my food to be about nourishment and not emotions. I want to exercise because I like to feel strong, not because its a punishment for being "fat." I want to bust through the old negative tapes in my head telling me that I'm not good enough. I am enough and I will find my way.

Hi Kristen,

Thanks for your comment on my blog. You're right! And people did have a great time. I've been asked to participate in a holocaust memorial in Vienna next year with that jazz group, so I must be doing something right. And mean people do suck, hahaha - especially when you can't avoid them because they are your MIL!

Thanks again,
Heidi

Hi Kristen,

Sorry to hear that your abs are not cooperating. I would have thought that singing would strengthen them? I'm glad you've found another musical outlet, though. That's great! How's life otherwise? How's your baby?

Cheers,
Heidi

Hi Kristen,

Thanks for stopping by, and for your comment. Yes, I totally know what you mean! ;)

Cheers,
Heidi
P.S. I just finished doing a cover for Lucia in the UK. Are you singing?

Ooh... another baby in the idea pipeline. Cool! You'll have to tell me when you get pregnant.

I know what you mean, though, as all the hormonal changes probably do mess with the voice a bit. Glad you're in the opera chorus and doing concerts. That sounds like fun!

As for me, I am doing Don Pasquale this summer. It will hopefully be a blast! Otherwise, I might (heavy emphasis on the 'might') be covering a Lucia in the UK in October. The Artistic Director and I are talking about it. I don't see how she can refuse, as a free cover is a free cover. emoticon

All I really want is to put it on my CV, lol. But, she is doing the role, even though she isn't a dramatic coloratura. I've listened to her recordings, and she sings fine, but it is risky to do a role so far out of your fach. She told me that she won't be taking any of the traditional cadenzas - WTH? So, I can see how she might feel threatened by having a cover that can actually do the cadenzas, lol. So, if it doesn't happen, that will be the reason. I actually don't think I'm quite ready to sing Lucia, but to have it on my CV as a cover would be perfect!

I just sang a concert in the states (more like a fancy party for a company and their clients). They have asked me to do something similar in Japan in June. Whether or not I end up doing it, it is nice to be asked.

That's about it. I should be auditioning, but grrr.

Anyway, best wishes for getting pregnant again and for your concerts!

Cheers,
Heidi
