BREAKOFDAWN

I am 53, happily married (30 years and counting), 3 children: one married, two in college. Currently an empty nester for the first time in 27 years. I homeschooled our 3 children so this is a big adjustment for me. I have not struggled with weight until hitting the menopause stage. Ideally my goal is to lose 15 pounds. I also want to learn how to do a pull up before Christmas.

No, Colorado would be silly since that's where we live! lol! Although, there are a lot of places we haven't been that would be great for a weekend get-a-way! We're actually going to Maui. Can you believe it? It's our 35 anniversary. We hadn't planned on going on vacation this year, but several hard things have happened in the past few months, ( my brother died, in laws are having health issues/surgeries, and one of our really good friends had a brain tumor) we just decided, we don't know what the future will bring, we're both healthy and have the money, let's go and make some memories.
I signed up for stand up paddle board lessons and I think we're going to try kayaking. And since you can't take the farmer out of my husband, we're going to do a farm tour where we can see how they grow different fruits/veges. and get to sample them. I think it'll be fun!

To update you on our location, our kids live near the Denver area, Eastern slope of Colorado and my husband and I live on the other side of the Continental Divide, the Western Slope. We're about five hours from our son in Denver and 6 hours from our daughter and her husband in Fort Morgan. We live near Montrose. Did your daughter move to was it, Silverton? Which is the good side of the state, the West Slope! lol!

Thanks Dawn for your comment about my wisdom tooth pulling. It is much better now, funny feeling that hole back there though! And I do still have to be careful about chewing on the other side and not eating things with seeds (no raspberries, tomatoes, etc) or small things that can get caught in there, like rice or corn. Which is REALLY hard as it's sweet corn season here! AHHHHHH! LOL! Hope you're having a great week!

Yes, our daughters 10k was in Colorado, Golden to be exact! We drove over from the West Slope to surprise her and cheer her on, we stayed with our son in Denver and he came with us to the race. It was so much fun seeing the look on her face when she saw us yelling and waving for her! We took everyone (her husband was there too) out to brunch after the race, just a good time all around. Where in Colo is your daughter moving to?

Hi Dawn, we do have our own snowshoes. We've been going for four or five years and found four pair at yard sales or from newspaper ads. I bought my pair online at a spring sale. The nice thing about snowshoes is people buy them thinking they'll really like it, go once or twice then they gather dust, so you can pick them up really reasonable and hardly used. We have extra pairs for when the kids come home, they don't have to rent, we can just go. You do wear your own snow boots, so you can pick the insulation level you need to keep your feet warm. I'm not sure how that works with cross country skis, as I've never gone, always thought it looked like fun though!
