At 20 pounds down. I bought that dress around 2 years ago and it was absolutely falling off. You can't really tell how much weight I've lost because it's baggy around my waist and hips (where I've lost the most).

Young adult cancer survivor on a health mission

During my senior year of college, I used SparkPeople to drop close to 40 pounds that had been creeping up since high school, largely as a result of an average of 2 rounds of steroids every year to deal with an unexplained rash. I noticed that I was feeling quite tired and that most nights my sleep was interrupted by severe back pain, but my weight loss didn't seem to help.

6 months later, I was a few months into my first job and the other shoe dropped - stage IV Hodgkin's lymphoma. ...

I noticed that I was feeling quite tired and that most nights my sleep was interrupted by severe back pain, but my weight loss didn't seem to help.

6 months later, I was a few months into my first job and the other shoe dropped - stage IV Hodgkin's lymphoma. It turned out the "unexplained rash" was the cancer, and I had in fact been misdiagnosed for 5 years! I gained an additional 60 pounds on chemo, on top of the 40 pounds I regained while job hunting, making a cross country move, and adjusting to working full time.

I have been in remission for 3 1/2 years and the weight lingers. Because my body is very different than it was 4 years ago, weight loss is even tougher. With my 5 year college reunion and serving as a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding coming up, I decided it was time to make a change.

My diet plan has been replacing two meals a day with green smoothies, eating a protein with veggies for dinner, and at least one snack during the day to total 1300-1500 calories a day. I also hit the gym to do cardio at least 5 times a week for 40 minutes.

I am obsessed with my adopted homelands of Mexico, Iceland, and the UK as well as some of the wonderful places I have had the opportunity to travel to such as Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Israel. Travel is what makes my life worth living and I hope to be able to visit South America and Africa soon.

2 green smoothies a day, low-carb and high nutrient dinner, and one snack

40 minutes of cardio 5x a week

Currently: 30 minutes on recumbent bike
10 minutes on elliptical

Hey!

Thanks for the encouragement on the message board. i see your pic up at the Sacre Coeur - I visited Paris last year and thought that was the most beautiful view I've ever seen. Did you spend all of your time in Paris or go elsewhere? I see you said you have studied abroad, is that what you were in Paris for?
Last year for my birthday I took a bus tour from Italy to London - visiting switzerland and france in between. It was a blast and I absolutely fell in love with Europe. Hoping to go back next year!
