That is what I am saying to myself every day! Do this for yourself, Charlene! It is not selfish; it is about taking responsibility and not letting any one else or any thing control my emotions or impulses to overeat or self-medicate or to punish myself by overeating- all of which have side-lined me in the past.

When I started this journey in 2009, I sent myself a text from my calendar on a regular basis - "I am going to do this with or without you." The sentiment was in the same vein - to realize that I had the power in myself and by myself to reach my goals and that I would no longer allow myself to react to hurtful words or events in a way that harmed me.

I am worth so much more than that and if you are reading this SO ARE YOU!!

My Goals:
To reinvent myself for the remaining 45 years of my life (yes, I am up to 98 as a goal age)
Go back to school and finish degree(Bachelor's completed in 2012)- CHECK.
Lost 65 pounds -CHECK.
Lose another 26 pounds - IN PROGRESS.

My Program:
I try to take a couple of what I call "scenic walking bathroom breaks" during the work day. I walk for 15 min straight during mid-morning break and a mid-afternoon break. I also do passive tummy and butt squeezes when I am waiting on the computer window to pop up. (That's how I have lost an inch on my waist during the last 3 months!) Lots of stretching with tension bands (for neck & back issues and for toning). Also use 1 dumbbell for behind the head reps to help the tricep area (aka arm flab). These are my secret weapon exercises that I can do even if I can't fit in a "real workout".
