Loving Myself Healthy

Hello to all!

I've always been concerned about my weight but for some reason I'm just watching it increase instead of decrease!

I am very concerned about developing diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. There are people on both sides of my family that have or passed away from these illnesses. I can't willingly allow this to happen to me. So now its time to start loving myself...healthy!

A couple of things helped me stick with my diet.
1. I started wtih the Biggest Loser competition at work, so I had 12 weeks of continual support from my coworkers. And my hubby was on board too, so we didn't go out to eat or buy any bad foods for a really long time.
2. I put my "Before" picture as my wallpaper on my ipod, so that every time I looked at my ipod, I said, "I don't ever want to look like this again."
3. I created a Vision Collage as recommended by SparkPeople. That helped me to identify specific goals I wanted to accomplish and I put it somewhere at home where I could see it every day.
4. I created a reward system for myself. At the beginning, I really wanted a pedicure but wouldn't allow myself to get it until I lost 10 pounds. And then a hair cut at 20 pounds, etc.
5. I allowed myself one dessert a week and it can't be on Sunday because then the whole rest of the week I was all depressed because I already at my 1 dessert for the week. I tried to save it for Saturday because there's always some kind of birthday party or something happening on Saturdays.
6. Once you start losing weight consistently, you've already begun to create healthy habits and you don't want to ruin all your progress so it tends to be a little bit easier.

Have you started the C25K program yet? What week are you on? I am on week 7 day 2. I'm doing a 5K on June 13th and my goal is to be able to jog the entire thing without walking.
