The Next Step!

Hi I am 47 year old ex smoker of 4 years who has gained 50 pound from the quit. I also have Hypothyroidism and am trying to get this body to where it is healthy. I know it is going to be hard, but with the right tools and a reset of mind and spirt. I will match my outsides with my insides.

Carol,

I am so sorry you are struggling so much. But I am glad to hear you are going to PT and the warm weather is cheering you up. That is great to make a goal for when I come visit. I also plan to have lost another 20 pounds by then. Hang in there. The only failure is not starting again!

I sure hope he can pull off another win this weekend!

I am currently meeting w/ a personal trainer one day a week for a 30-min session (she does a strength training workout that incorporates 2 body groups at once, like squats w/ curls or lunges w/ triceps extensions, etc). Then I try to repeat the workout a couple times a week on my own before I get the new routine the next week.

In addition to this, I've been going to physical therapy three times a week since my hip surgery, so I do an hour long lower body routine there, working out on the elliptical to warm up, then on the weight machines for the legs (curls, extension & presses), followed by squats on wobble boards, walking lunges, side lunges, step-ups, etc.

And I've been trying to get in at least an hour of low level cardio each day, either walking, the stationary bike, swimming laps or my Wii Fit.
