8/31/2013 - successfully ran an entire 5k outside for the first time in YEARS. 70 lbs down from January 1, 2013 weight - now 208.3 lbs. Feels great!




15 Weeks in, and 15% slimmer! 229 lbs

I am 39 years old, married, mother to a wonderful 13 year old son, a lawyer, and sick of being this fat.

I didn't have a weight problem as a child or teenager, but have struggled with my weight throughout my entire adult life. In 2006-2007, I lost about 80 lbs, and felt really good. Of course, I gained it all back, plus an extra 50 lbs for good measure.

I joined SparkPeople in October 2011, but didn't track anything or do any exercise, and just kept gaining weight. I got serious and started this journey again on 1/2/2012 weighing in at 283.5 lbs, my all-time high. Lost a bunch of weight in 2012, and then gained 99% of it back.

See a pattern here? :) I weighed in on 1/1/2013 at 278. Way, way too heavy. I really buckled down and got serious on 3/10/2013, when I weighed in at 272.5.

I vow that I will, by using SparkPeople's nutrition and fitness guidelines, reach my goal weight of 150 this time, and I will stay there!!

Other goals include:
- Getting off of the 2 high blood pressure medications I take daily - for good! 8/2/2013 Update: My doctor is weaning me off of my meds!!! Hurray hurray!

- Shopping in regular stores. No more "W" behind the size on the labels for me. Seriously. 8/2/2013 Update: I bought a pair of "regular" size 16 jeans yesterday and they FIT! :)

Fitness Minutes: 17,010

My Goals:
1) Exercise for at least 25 minutes per day, every day;
2) Reach 150 lbs and maintain that weight;
3) Feel good about being in my own skin again.


My Program:
Food: I am eating more than Sparkpeople's calorie suggestions after having my RMR tested at the YMCA. I am eating between 1851 - 2450 calories/day on average; I usually go over that at least one day a week, and go down to 1600 one day a week.

For exercise: I am working out with a personal trainer every Monday morning for 30 minutes of strength training.

I also am working on the 10 week "Focus T25" program in addition to running 1-3 miles a couple of times a week.
