Hi there, I'm Erin, and I'm DONE! I had, unfortunately, gained back the weight I had previously lost. However, I have maintained many good habits that I had acquired during my previous weight loss, such as eating fruits and veggies and whole grains, and exercising regularly. I have completed several triathlons, duathlons, and running events (10 miles or less) and miss being in "training mode" for these events. I am focused on enjoying the journey, and not waiting to live my life after I lose the weight. I have already learned that weight loss does not automatically solve any problems, so I am working really hard on the mental aspect this time around. I deserve respect and love now, not 136 pounds from now.

I graduated with a B.S. in psychology and exercise science in December 2010. My original intention was to pursue a Master's of Public Health in Community Health Education, but now I am re-evaluating that goal. For now, I need the break from school! I do plan on completing my personal trainer certification and working as a personal trainer part-time.

A little bit of basic info: I am 33 and live in Minneapolis, MN. I am a certified veterinary technician and I do poison control for animals. When I'm not working, I love to work out, garden, read, and watch movies. I own my little house in South Minneapolis, where I've lived for the past 6 years. I have a dog, a "few" cats, and a red-tailed boa constrictor for good measure. They're all rescues--it's a job hazard!

My Program:
I lose weight best when I eat towards the high end of my calorie allotment and follow a vigorous exercise program. I try not to have more than a 500 calorie deficit on most days.

My exercise program mainly revolves around Jiu Jitsu, boxing, kettlebells, Pilates, and yoga, but also includes cardio such as walking, swimming, cycling, belly dance, Zumba, and low-impact aerobics. I have arthritis in my spine that affects most of my joints, so I adjust my exercises accordingly when needed. The best thing I can do for my arthritis is to keep moving!

Personal Information:
I'm Erin, 35 years old, and I live in Minneapolis, MN.

I have a B.S. in psychology and kinesiology, and am a personal trainer, massage therapist, and writer.

Was chosen as Done Girl of the Day on March 18th, 2011--love this team!

Thank you Erin, for the goodie and your kind thoughts about my knee. I really feel that it's doing better with the cortisone shot and the good brace I bought for it. I really walked today more than usual and I feel it, but I know that that's a normal feeling too. Thanks again and I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. emoticon

Thanks for the dumbbells - they're rad!
My issue with squats is shoulder mobility -- I can't get my arms behind me enough to hold the bar properly. :( I think it's going to take some doing to work on that flexibility (and I'm impatient dammit!) But I'm not giving up -- I'll get there, just like you said.

Hey Erin,

The Kabir text nails it for me, circumstances being beyond my control at the moment, and feeling at the mercy of people and situations.

Seeing your "like" on the de Chardin quote got me over here...since I've been meaning to stop by for weeks now.

I'm sure you have no time to be perusing my travel blogs, so I just wanted to mention that there is one that includes my first night back in California, in the great little California town of Ramona, San Diego County. I stayed in a fabulous county park there, Dos Picos.
